Chapter 4: Seeding the ground for potential reaping

“So Ukle D what are we watching today” Jay says as she looks at Damien inquisitively.

“I was thinking we could watch that penguin movie since you haven’t stopped talking about it since you saw the preview a few days ago.” Damien responds while buying the ticket.

“oooooh , oooh can I have some soda?” Jay says laying on the cuteness thickly.

“You know you aren’t supposed to have it but if you won’t tell I won’t. Damien says pinching her cheeks as he picks her up. “Pick a flavor princess.”

“Ummmmm I want that one” the little one says as she points to her favorite flavor.

“I guess….if you really one that.” Damien responds as he puts in their requests.

As the both of them got their tasty treats and turn to go to their theater Damien runs across a familiar face. “Doctor Roth? Ummm hi?” he says looking at the blushing woman who he sees regularly and for some reason he is feeling extremely insecure and could feel himself getting warmer as their eyes connect.

Rachel, Toni and Nicole decided to go out to the movies after a long day and the last thing Rachel was suspecting was seeing him. She watched his interaction with the little girl with great interest while the internal speculation of his gentleness and attitude intensified between all of her emotions. Toni said nothing because she still remembered what she saw that day at her office and later on when she told/showed Nicole they both tormented Rachel to no end. The effects of the torment once she saw Damien became apparent as Nicole nudged Toni and they both giggled at her attitude.

“Good evening Damien, how are you doing tonight?” she asks Damien.

“Me and this princess here are enjoying a nice night together” Damien says gesturing to Jay.

“Hi, I’m Jasmine and you are pretty. You should ask my uncle out.” She declares innocently. “I hear Ukle D and my daddy talk about you all the time.” Jay says sweetly as Damien face palms. Looking back at the mini redhead he says “You know you shouldn’t repeat things adult’s say tiny feet” as he flicks her nose. Jay thinking, she is getting scolded begins to tear up “I’m sorry” she says with a doeful look before she buries her head in his shoulder. “Hey,hey,hey: I was joking princess” Damien says as he soothes the emotional terrorist. Nicole marvels at the care Damien shows to the young one with him and Toni swoons. After some polite chitchat the group discovers that they are all headed to the same movie and after Jay captures Toni’s heart the two women maneuver themselves so that Rachel is sitting on Damien’s right as Toni with Jay is on his left. Thinking that Jay will be a burden Toni waves him off stating that she was a “cutie” and she didn’t mind hanging out with her as she tickled Jay. Damien was amazed at Jay’s attitude because Jay was usually withdrawn and was socially awkward. To see Jay comfortable in someone outside of her family and him warmed his heart. Rachel could feel Jay’s sweetness as she teased the little one lightly. “You are very pretty young lady” Rachel says as she gets nose to nose with a giggling little girl. Jay doesn’t say anything but bashfully shy’s into Toni. “It’s ok Rachel is very nice. She even takes care of your daddy.” Toni says nuzzling with Jay. “He isn’t my daddy he is my Ukle.” Jay replies while wondering what was so funny with Toni. Toni is losing her mind while holding the little girl “She is just so cute, I could D.I.E a happy woman! (not wanting to saying that out loud so she could hear her.)” Damien looks at Toni weirdly but puts it off because he sees how comfortable Jay is with her and after a while into the movie Jay starts to snore lightly. Rachel is slowly losing it as she sits next to Damien. As time progresses the emotions start to get louder and louder demanding her attention. Rachel glances at her companions quickly and Toni is snuggling with Jay and Damien is into the movie. She turns to Nicole and tells her what’s going on and after some snickering and refusal for some answers from Nicole she retreats into her mindspace. “Why are you so loud?” Rachel asks her clones as she materializes inside her mindspace. Wisdom and Rage shushes everyone as they look towards Rachel. “What?” Rachel asks as she starts to get more annoyed as their insistence not to talk grows. Happy and Timid start giggling as Rude and Brave look toward to Rachel. “What are you going to do?” Brave asks Rachel feigning ignorance to Brave’s inquisition ask about what. Rude interjects and yells at Rachel for being stupid “You know exactly what we are talking about idiot.” Rachel retorts “It would be unprofessional for me to see him outside of the therapeutic environment because he was and is my client.” The others simply shake their heads at her statement as she states her stance over and over. “Why deny yourself something that you clearly want? You are living according to rules that don’t apply to you. You are living according to this universes HUMAN rules Rachel, are you human in this universe now?” Rachel knowing if she admits this then she knows what will come next. “I’m not having this conversation with you anymore” She says as she exits her mindscape. “You think you can avoid it but sooner than later you will have to face your inner truth.” Wisdom warns as she fades away.

After a wonderful movie the parties part ways as Toni promises Jay that she will see her again. After Damien gives Rachel a friendly wave and carries Jay to the car. While driving the sleeping toddler home he can’t get Rachel off of his mind. After he places the little one to bed he retires with a beer and soon falls asleep. Within his mindscape he is having dinner with Rox like a normal night in the past. As he dreams in peace he feels himself being pulled awake. As he wipes the sleep out of his eyes he notices he isn’t in his room but he is on the familiar planet that led him to his “friend” as he walks towards her cave he feels something is watching him. As he looks about fear creeping around Pin appears next to him and grips his shoulder. Damien jumping out of his skin looks at Pin angrily “What was that?” Pin looks terrified as she pulls Damien further into her sanctuary. “Pin why am I here and what was that?” Damien insists and she continues to ignore him. Once they cross the threshold Damien refuses to move until Pin talks to him. “We don’t have a lot of time. I was hoping to lead you into this slowly and teach you properly but we don’t have that luxury. Damien starts to worry at her demeanor and presses the issue “What do you mean Pin” Pin’s hurt and anger is palpable but her fear is worse. “I met with some interesting people on my wavelength about something important. Something big, something evil and ancient is coming for me, for you and for everything in existence. The only way I do is to prepare you for facing it.” She says as she gently touches his face. As she begins to explain the basics of the **** and the history of her old universe as she knew it. “Wow, that is a lot. I would ask and doubt the realness of what you are saying but you are in fact here. There is something you aren’t telling me though is there?” he asks eyeing Pin carefully. Pin knows where he is going with this question line but is **** to give the whole picture for fear that he will reject…...everything.

“Would you like a small cake with your tea Ms. Perriwinkle?” Jay asks her stuffed bear. Damien loved that little girl and often wondered if he had a daughter he would spoil her exactly the same way. “Ukle D would you like a cup too?” He smiles at her sheer innocence and agrees to the pretend cup of tea. Suddenly out of the blue Jay starts asking about her favorite uncle’s new friend. “Can I see my new friend again?” Jay ask as she pours Damien another cup of tea. “I don’t think so honey, she is my doctor and its considered inappropriate to see her outside of my therapy.” Damien tries to reason with her but he knows once she puts on those doeful eyes he is done. Paige walks by and sees the spectacle and asks what’s going on. Damien tells her of the “date” and Jay’s new friend. Paige immediately brightens up at the doctor’s mention and the fact that he didn’t call her “Doc” anymore or like he used to call all doctor’s. As she thinks this Damien can see a small smile form on her and can feel excitement coming from Paige. “What are you grinning about?” Damien asks narrowing his eyes. Paige being the expert on avoiding and dodging uncomfortable moments with Damien just ignores it. As Damien pushes the topic to see what Page is thinking Jay is getting increasingly agitated that Damien stopped paying attention to her.

“Hey! You are supposed to be paying attention to ME not my mommy.” Jay says with a hand on her hip. “You are correct my little Korppi. I will never ignore you again. You have my full and undivided attention.” Damien says leaning down to her level and cupping her face. Paige laughed at Damien and Jay’s banter. She knows her daughter has Damien melted in her hands like putty. “Ok, so Mr. Man what are you going to do?” she asks after Jay spends the next 3 hours begging and pestering him to get her new friend over so they can play. “I guess I will have to make it happen or I will be poked to **** by this trouble maker.” Damien avows as he strokes a now sleeping toddler.
