The party arrives at Lightcairn

Chapter 15: The Elfking’s Thanks

I woke up with a pounding headache. I had zero idea where I was, a strange structure with tall ceilings and several beds. A hospital of some sort? I tried to sit up and groaned.

“Sir!” a voice called, and I turned to see a young man of probably nineteen, hurriedly coming towards me.

“Doctor Ashwood told me to keep you laying on your back.” the young man said.

“Alright, fine.” I sighed, flopping back on the bed.

“Good. Your gorgeous half-elf lover has been in and out for the last two days.” the young man told me.

“Two days? I’ve been out for two days?” I gaped.

“Oh. Uh, yeah, you have. You were fatally wounded, but Doctor Ashwood is the best in the Realm. I’m Jeremy. Nice to meet you.” the young man offered his hand.

“I’d shake it, but my arm kind of hurts.” I admitted.

“Oh. Understood. You need anything?” Jeremy asked. I shook my head.

“I’m ok.” I said. Jeremy left me to silence.

———

An hour later, Jess finally showed up.

“Sebastian!” she gasped, and rushed to my side, placing a hand on my cheek and kissing me.

“Hey, Jess. Nice to see you, too.” I chuckled dryly.

“God, I thought you were going to die!” Jess cried. She slipped into bed with me, snuggling up against me, her face inches from mine.

“I’m fine.” I promised, and leaned my forehead against Jess’.

“Hey! Lady Liakalyn! Leave my patient alone!” a woman’s voice called, and Jess hastily climbed out of my bed.

I turned to see a woman who looked Latina, a sexy Latina MILF. Big tits (well, big for a human anyway) were pushed up in a corseted black dress.

“Hello, Sebastian. I’m Doctor Ashwood.” the MILF told me, sitting beside me on the bed. Jess slid her fingers through mine.

“Hi. Nice to meet you.” I smiled nervously.

“So... you sustained your wounds in a battle with goblins. I have to say, you were the toughest patient I’ve had in a while.” Doctor Ashwood remarked.

“Thank you?” I chuckled.

“I believe that the visiting King Rolan Dajeon wishes to thank you personally. He actually sent a royal messenger yesterday.” Doctor Ashwood told me. I nodded.

“When will I be free to leave?” I asked. Doctor Ashwood placed a hand on my bare chest, and it started tingling and warming.

“I think you’ll be alright.” she gave me a bright smile. Jess clapped her hands together.

“Lady Liakalyn, let’s go and let Sebastian get dressed.” Doctor Ashwood said, and placed a fresh change of clothes on the bed, which was nice. I’d been wearing the same clothes since I’d spawned at on that mountain’s peak.

I quickly pulled on the clothes, a brown tunic and light, almost khaki-colored pants. I found they had better stats than my last clothes.

I walked out into the sun, and found a royal messenger talking to Jess and Doctor Ashwood.

“Sir Sebastian! King Rolan requests your presence for a banquet this evening. You’re welcome to bring your lover.” the messenger inclined his head at Jess.

“I’d be more than happy to come.” I said formally.

“Excellent. I’ll inform the king to expect you.” the messenger bowed deeply and left. Jess hooked an arm through mine.

“Hope you have some fancy clothes.” she joked.

———

Later that evening, I couldn’t take my eyes off Jess. She’d found a stunning sky blue gown that had a bodice of, I kid you not, jewels. Jess’ cleavage was out of this world, and I looked even shorter next to her because she wore heels. I was in an elegant suit that was more extravagant than anything I’d ever seen.

“You look stunning.” I told Jess. She smiled and leaned down to kiss me.

“Thank you, love.” Jess said fondly.

“God, you look handsome!” Sasha remarked. I hugged my sister, who’d been thrilled when I showed up at the door of the little cottage the king had generously given my companions when he’d heard of Fay’s return.

“Thanks, sis.” I chuckled. Amaya had refused to exit her bedroom, and I felt bad, but I’d deal with her feelings once I got back from this banquet. A carriage had pulled up in front of the cottage, and I helped Jess climb inside, not that the graceful half-elf needed my help.

I climbed in after her, and we set off.

———

We pulled up in front of a castle.

“Whoa. Where are we?” I asked.

“Lightcairn Castle. The King and Queen of the Fourth Realm reside here, along with the two Princesses. And I guess temporarily King Rolan and Princess Faylen of the First Kingdom.” Jess told me as we ascended the stairs, which reminded me of Cinderella.

We entered the huge double doors and I saw several people dressed as elegantly as me and Jess. Probably more.

“Sir Sebastian!” a deep voice boomed. I turned to see a man with thick brown hair and an equally thick brown beard in a perfectly fitted golden suit. Fay was a step behind him off to his right, looking incredibly sexy in a tight ruby dress which did nothing to hide the incredible size of her tits.

“King Rolan?” I asked.

“Yes. Words cannot express how thankful I am that you brought my daughter back to me.” King Rolan said, proud voice trembling slightly.

“It wasn’t much trouble anyways. My party was heading towards Northhall.” I explained.

“Northhall? That’s a treacherous town in a treacherous region, though admittedly a wealthy one. What brings you there?” King Rolan remarked.

“Daddy!” Fay pouted.

“Apologies. My daughter specifically requested I not pry into your life.” King Rolan admitted.

“She’s a stubborn one.” I grinned at Fay, who gave a dazzling smile back.

“Indeed. Though she’s tougher now than she ever was. I suspect her inspiration was you.” King Rolan inclined his head to me.

“I’d like to think so. But it was all Jess.” I said, and looked to my half-elf companion. Jess gave a humble shrug.

“Regardless. You deserve some compensation for bringing my daughter back to me safely. I was thinking a crafted object of your choosing. Perhaps a sum in gold, and maybe even a spellmark?” King Rolan offered.

“A what?” I blinked.

“A spellmark.” Jess breathed in awe.

“I see you are new to the Realms. Spellmarks are tattoos that provide a magic power. They are incredibly expensive, but my daughter is priceless to me.” King Rolan said, and unbuttoned the top of his suit and pulled it down so I could see a strange symbol tattooed on his chest.

“This is a spellmark which cures all ailments. The human body can only handle at most three, though I don’t know any non-royal with more than one.” King Roman explained. I nodded.

“That sounds incredible. Thank you.” I inclined my head gratefully.

“Not a problem.” King Rolan said.

“Dad... I want to join Sebastian on his journey.” Fay blurted. King Rolan looked horrified.

“No! Of course not! You are not some reckless adventurer, you are a princess. My daughter!” King Rolan thundered.

“Perhaps we should take a walk.” Jess suggested, and tugged my elbow.

“Yes, yes. Sir Sebastian, I’ll contact you to get your spellmark and other rewards tomorrow.” King Rolan said distractedly, and Jess and I walked away from the arguing royals.

Sebastian receives his spellmark
