Cassandra has trouble deciding

[A five-way tie, and it didn't look like it would get broken. Let's see if this time it will be the same...]

Cassandra just couldn't decide what to do. Part of her wanted to stay home and pay her mother back for the teasing. Another part wanted to go out and think a bit. She considered visiting Evelyn, the Temple, the Academy, and even the prison, but in the end no option was more appealing than the rest and breakfast ended with Cassandra having reached no decision.

“I heard about a new shop that has opened in town. It sells only elven stuff. I am going to check it out and see if they have any nice elven dresses.” Valeria was the first to speak up when everyone had finished eating.

“Let me know if they have any books for sale. I'll be in my room, reading.” Alice requested.

“What about you, Cass? What are you going to do?” Adriana asked the last of her daughters.

“Well, I-” Cassandra began, but was interrupted by the arrival of a maid.

“Forgive the intrusion, mistress, but there's a woman here who claims to be selling some sort of enchanted statuette.” The maid announced.

“Another **** merchant looking to make a sale? Well, I suppose it won't hurt to check out her 'enchanted statuette' before kicking her out.” Adriana decided and got up, followed by her daughters.

The merchant turned out to be a pale-skinned, brown-haired woman slightly shorter than Cassandra. She was wearing a plain white blouse and a long dark-gray skirt, and was holding a small wooden box.

“Good morning to you all. I hope I am not intruding.” The woman greeted them before opening the wooden box and taking out a small statuette made from white marble. “Thank you for taking the time to listen to me. Here's what I'd like to show you.”

“A statuette of a naked woman. And it's supposed to be enchanted?” Adriana sounded doubtful.

“Yes, it is. It allows the user to change her appearance. This is the basic version, so its power is rather limited. You can change your breast size between B, C, D and DD cup, you can change your hair color but not hair length, and you can change the color of your eyes. You can also change your skin color, but only between 5 predetermined ones. That's all the basic version can do. My mistress can also make an advanced version that is considerably less limited. It is a lot more expensive but allows the user to freely change breast size, skin color, hair color, hair length, eye color, add fake tattoos or hide real ones, and, last but not least, allows the user to grow a cock.” The woman's explanation was so quick Cassandra was barely able to follow. “If you so desire and are willing to pay the price, my mistress can make you a custom statuette that can include extras such as changing your apparent age or growing wings. But please keep in mind that having wings is one thing; knowing how to properly use them – another. There's a reason why you don't see people flying around...”

“Sounds like using these statuettes can be a lot of fun – if they actually work. Would you mind demonstrating?” Valeria asked.

“Certainly.” As the woman said that she held the statuette in the palm of her hand and her breasts grew to DD size, straining her blouse. At the same time her pale skin rapidly turned dark brown. “As you can see minor changes like these are quick and easy. The price of the basic version is 500 coins, and it comes with written instructions how to use it. The price for the advanced version is 2000 coins, but I don't have any with me, so you will have to visit our shop if you want to buy one. The price of a custom statuette is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on what sort of extras the customer wants.” The woman looked at the four women in front of her expectantly.

“Thank you for the demonstration. It's an interesting object, but I don't think I have a use for such a statuette at this time.” Alice said and turned to leave. “I'll be in my room if anyone needs me.” And with that she was gone.

Before anyone else could say or ask anything else there was another interruption, this time due to the arrival of a visitor. It was another noblewoman, one Nonnette de'Verle.

“Good morning, everyone! It's so nice to see you, Adriana, Valeria, Cassandra!” Lady de'Verle greeted them all.

“Good morning, Nonnette. What brings you here today? And so early, too...” Adriana greeted her, looking a bit surprised by the other woman's arrival.

“I was passing by and decided to come see you. I hope you don't mind?”

“Not at all. Let's go talk somewhere more private.” Adriana then looked at her daughters. “I'll go speak with Nonnette. You two take care of this.” With that said Adriana and Nonnette left.

Lady de'Verle has been visiting quite often recently, and mother always talks to her in private... I wonder if there's some secret here that I don't know? Maybe I should investigate?

“Well, looks like it's up to us, sis.” Valeria said once their mother and her guest had left. “This sort of statuette could come in handy if you need to change your appearance in a hurry. Though the changes will probably be easy to detect...”

“Not at all, my lady. Once complete a change is nearly impossible to detect, I assure you.” The woman piped in.

“Oh? That's good to know. So, what do you think, Cass? The statuette seems like it might be of some use to you...”

“Maybe. Let me think...”
