Chapter 2 by Mexi-Pino Mexi-Pino

What's eating at you right now?

Carlos

You wished Carlos was next to you right now. The way he would laugh and brighten your day, his intense brown eyes that capture your attention with every glance and his never-ending compassion. Carlos was the gentlest and sincerest person you've ever met. His fair skin, that ever present scowl, his short buzz cut with the black goatee and soul patch, Carlos looked intimidating. He's your roommate that also happens to be a really close friend. You met Carlos through your best friend Diego who knew Carlos needed someone to help pay rent for a two bedroom apartment in the city. You guys all hung out together making stupid jokes, drinking, playing soccer. Eventually you and Carlos started to hang out without Diego and you two personally got to know more about each other. Right now, Carlos is at his girlfriend's house meeting her parents. He's been dating this girl Patrcia for three years and it wasn't until she accidently sent a text to her parents about her boyfriend, that her parents became interested in her life again. Carlos would always talk about her to you.

One time Carlos told you, "I don't know if what I'm doing about Patrcia is right. I've been through that shit before, abusive relationships are shitty. I just don't know if letting herself figure out this stuff alone is good. When I broke up with Maddie, I needed someone like Diego to help pull myself together after the fucking hell she put me through. I needed someone to help me remember that what happened was because of her, not because I wasn't good enough for her, or that I was too weak to take it like a 'real' man would."

Speachless you tried your best to comfort him. You've never seen Carlos that **** before, **** without any embarrassment or shame. That was a rare quality to find in a guy. Before, that you thought your friendship with Carlos was just about beer, soccer, and stupid jokes. You honestly didn't expect him to trust you so much. You can still remember that look of guilt and triste that bore right through you as you stare at all the empty bottles around your room.

What's up with your phone?
