Chapter 5 by Eugene_Oregon Eugene_Oregon

Building a car is hard work...

Sydney flopped back onto the hard ground, puffing her cheeks out and exhaling.

Without a watch or a phone, she didn't know how long she had been working; the overcast sky didn't provide her with much indication of how much time had passed either!

She brushed her blonde hair back from her sweaty face and repeatedly gulped, wishing that she had some water. Sydney absentmindedly massaged her growling stomach; she had been hoping it would be a while longer before hunger kicked in.

The instructions had been so useless that Sydney had had to resort to improvising, and hoping that she could recall from memory how to build an internal combustion engine from scratch.

When she felt her eyes becoming heavy, Sydney **** herself back to her bare feet; she couldn't afford to fall asleep!

Flexing her cramped hands, the blonde girl picked up her tools and got back to work...

As night fell, Sydney was regretting ever signing up for the show.

She was hungry, thirsty, freezing, and exhausted. It was taking a large proportion of her remaining energy just to keep her eyes open, not that they were much use. Between the darkness and the tears flowing down her cheeks, it was hard to see anything.

Crouching down, the blonde girl grabbed hold of the cumbersome part she had been working on and picked it up. She staggered towards what was starting to resemble a car...but her shaking arms gave way.

"Ow!" she cried, hopping around as the heavy metal dropped onto her bare foot.

Not even attempting to restrict the flow of tears, Sydney tried again, somehow managing to haul the device into position. With that task done, she collapsed onto the rough tarmac, leaning against the metal shell.

Sydney had watched enough of the show to know that there was no point calling out to the watching production crew for help or giving up. The image of Zendaya curled into the fetal position, sobbing and mentally broken after being the main attraction at an open-air life drawing exhibition was still seared into her brain. It had taken Zendaya a long time to realise that no one was going to come and take pity on her; Sydney wasn't going to make the same mistake.

The naked girl let out a huge yawn. She knew she couldn't afford to lose any time, but it was counter-productive to try and keep working when she could barely keep her eyes open.

Closing her eyes and hugging her bare torso, the nude girl slipped into unconsiousness...
