Brown-eyed girl!

Jim winced as he picked his way through the mid-morning crowd at the conference hall, grumbling to himself at the lack of luck being selected to represent the company at the business symposium at the last moment to replace Harold, the other senior member of the products team, who had developed a bad case of pink eye. There was a joke of recommending some topical cream and worcestershire sauce but he didn't make it, instead just rolling his eyes as he made his way towards the only open spot in the middle near the exit. There was another woman from the same company, Bethany if he remembered her name right, who spotted him and waved him over. "Thank god, I thought I was going to be all alone here after Harold."

Jim sighed and settled down in his seat.

An hour later, he wished he had been the one to meet Barbara Streisand instead.

Bethany was silently snoring away and with no end in sight to the power point to end all powerpoints, he took the chance to slip out the quiz from his packet and looked at the question on the sheet.

Blessed with the piercing blue eyes from his dad, Jim always had gone for the opposite, something more soft and warming, a set where you could look into and simply be able to lose yourself in it and be completely at ease and entranced at the same time. That and the song didn't hurt either. I'd have brown eyes, gentle and enchanting at the same time. He placed it back in as the lights turned back on and immediately he rubbed his eyes, assuming it was due to the brightness of the room lights coming back on. He rubbed it again as Bethany shook herself awake and smiled. "Thank god we get paid for this, huh?"

Jim laughed as his eyes slowly changed from their dark blue to a softer brown hue. "Yeah, no kidding, my eyes must've been straining a bit from all those slides..."

The two of them walked out of the conference hall and looked at their schedules for the rest of the day and internally Jim groaned at the sheer list of banking seminars he was slated to be attending. When they were sent there, the company had no problems getting them into multiple breakout groups and between Bethany and himself, Jim wondered just how they could get out and hit the bar, though the likelihood of many others having the same idea seemed likely as the entrance was packed and no tables seemed to be opening up any time soon.

"Well, thank god we're done by 6, I'd hate to be listening to much more of that."

Jim nodded and, after throwing one final glance forlornly at the bar, headed to the next session.

That night, after arriving home dead tired and noticing that Laura was not home, he didn't even bother showering but merely stripped off his clothes and slipped on a yellow shirt and grey sweats and slipped into bed. He looked at the batch of materials from the conference and groaned internally before he glanced at the next question on the paper.
