Bobby Lee Investigates

Punching the gas pedal Bobby Lee headed for Buffalo Ridge at top speed. He radioed into headquarters that he had seen what looked like a plane or something crash. Sheriff McCoy got on the radio and said they were getting reports from half the county and that she would be up that way in a while. She told him to investigate what he had seen, and report back. She said she was going to have the volunteer fire department, and the paramedic squad scramble also in case there were any survivors. She estimated the ETA of the extra help at 30 minutes or so. She told him to hang tight and not get to close to anything unless there were injured people that needed his help.

Bobby Lee hit the road at the base of Buffalo ridge a few moments later and was at the scene of the crash a minute later. At least he thought it was a crash. There was a huge gash in the earth that ran for at least half a mile. The brush on each side of the gash was on fire, and the smoke filling the area gave the entire site an eerie glow. Bobby Lee took the cruiser along side the gash, driving in the field until he reached the object that had made it.

The metal cylinder did not look like any airplane that Bobby Lee had ever seen before. It was very shiny, and still glowed faintly red as if it was cooling slowly from being red hot. He could feel the heat radiating from the skin of the craft, and he did not need to touch it to know it burn him instantly.

The surface of the craft was smooth. There was not a window, or door or a crack of any type in the perfect surface. Then Bobby Lee notice a small line, it widened, and spread down the side of the craft. By the time he realized it was opening the portal that was forming was the size of a double door entry. The door slid open smoothly, and Bobby Lee peered into the dark interior of the craft. He could not see anything and he leaned closer to get a look inside.
