A black man approached Amber as she considered her options. "Hey, girl, you headed downtown? I can give you a ride."

"Oh, really?" she asked hopefully. "Are you a cab driver?"

"I'll drive you, sweetheart," he said, taking hold of her suitcase from her. "My name's Donnie."

"Amber," she replied as he started wheeling her luggage away. She followed him to a van with all the rear windows blackened. "Uh, is this it?"

"Yeah, get on in." Donnie was already loading her luggage into the back of the van, so she didn't think she should argue. She opened the sliding door and climbed into the darkness...
