BfaR 2

Eris found herself only half able to pay attention for the final forty-five minutes of class. She could not tear her mind away from thoughts of what might come during her mystery meeting. Her imagination concocted one scenario after another, each less likely than the last, but it was still nice imagining things like Keith asking her out or kissing her.

She was not upset when the final bell interrupted her reverie. Taking her time so as to avoid being spotted in the crowded hallways going somewhere other than the exit, she packed up her bag, humming softly to herself. The room was empty of all but the teacher by the time she stood, calmly making her way into the hall. She kept her body practically pressed to the wall as she swam upstream towards her locker, her head down to hide how she winced every time someone brushed up against her. How the rumor of her being a slut started, she had no idea. How anyone believed it when she typically shied away from physical contact baffled her even further.

Eris took her time at her locker as well, trying to look nonchalant as she waited for the hallway around her to clear a little bit more. Fortunately, it took less than thirty seconds for the passage to clear completely. Taking a deep breath through her slight smile, she closed her locker. Finally, she felt safe to make her way to room 217.

She arrived to find the room unsurprisingly empty. After the second high school had been built and the class split up, a number of the classrooms had seen very little use, if any at all. This one had clearly become a storage area for classroom supplies, paper, pens, dry erase markers, and other such supplies sitting on desks with no organization on one side of the room, extra desks stacked on top of each other on the other. A couple of desks were left empty, but that likely would not be for long.

It seemed she was the first to arrive. That was fine. It gave her time to get her breath and heartbeat under control. Setting her bag on one of the empty desks, she walked over to the window, taking deep breaths as she took in the view. Being the back side of the building, there were no busses lined up where people would be able to see her.

Minutes ticked past, making it harder for her to remain calm. Nervousness settled in. Was this some sort of trick? Maybe it really was Lukas or one of her other bullies who thought they could get a kick out of wasting her time. Maybe someone really was coming, but something had come up that was delaying them.

Maybe they were waiting for everyone to clear out...?

So lost in her thoughts was she that she did not notice the door opening and closing softly, her companion careful not to make a sound.
