Better than I'd hoped

While I lived within the village, I had made an acquaintance, an old woman who ran an apothecary. Like me, she was something of an outcast, viewed by many as a witch. However, she was always kind to me. When she saw my distress at going through puberty, she taught me how to make a tonic that would make me develop like a girl. Instead of facial hair, I grew breasts. Instead of muscles, I grew curves. Unfortunately, she died only a few scant years later, but I treasure her formula.

When I arrived at the tribe, the warrior from that fateful day, Eranna, recognized me. I don't know how, but she did. She pulled me aside and asked about my condition. On that day, nine years ago, she had checked to see if I was a boy. This actually made me a bit upset and defensive.

"Well, you were wrong, because I'm a girl!" I shouted at her, nearly in tears. Never once, since the day I left that tavern, had I once presented as a boy. Only the old lady knew what lay between my legs, and that is something she took to her grave. That this amazon knew about it felt like a violation.

"Relax. I get it. I made a mistake. You're clearly a girl." she said, before looking around. "You're not the only one who has such a condition. However, I am surprised you know of a way to make your body develop like that. I thought only we amazons knew how to make such things."

Upon further prompting, I told her about the old lady I had met, and the potion she had taught me. The warrior was impressed, and suggested that I consult with the shaman, that she would take me as an apprentice for the chance to study that formula. I told her no, that I wanted to be a warrior like her, and that made her smile like a proud parent.

"That won't be such a simple task. In order to become a warrior of the amazon, three trials must you first past." she told me. Asking about them, she told me about the three trials. The first is the trial of the bird, where I must take flight on something called a glider and soar through the air like a bird. The second is the trial of the warrior, where I must engage in martial combat with a warrior of the tribe for five minutes without surrendering or dying. The final trial is called the trial of the toad, where I must cross a perilous chasm by hopping from platform to platform without falling. I am free to take the trials in any order, but if I fail one I cannot become an amazon, and will likely die in the process.
