Being made an example

The headmistress looked down at Sandry, who had frozen on the edge of the stage. She did not appear to have heard the ripping noise.

"What's wrong, Smith?"

"I've split my trousers!" Sandry replied, blushing red at the knowledge that five hundred students were looking at her bright pink panties, bulging out through a ragged tear up her back seam.

"Your trousers split?!" Miss Beauchamp looked shocked.

"Yes, Miss."

"Come on, get onto the stage." the headmistress gave Sandry a hand up, in the process Sandry's tie falling aside from the gap where her button was missing. "Stand there." She put Sandry next to her on stage, but made no motion to hand her the attendance award. Instead she turned to the students.

"Sandry has just split her trousers coming up to the stage." She announced, provoking more laughter until she held up a hand for quiet. " I keep talking about the uniform policy, and how it forbids overly tight clothing. And still barely a day goes by when some girl- and it does seem to be exclusively girls- doesn't come running to lost property looking for clothing because she's split her pants, or burst her buttons, or worse. I think I know what colour knickers half you girls wear by now, not to mention which of you come to school without any knickers on, Zoe." At this she looked pointedly at a blushing senior girl, who began to explain it was just one time before Miss Beauchamp interrupted her,

"So the last time this happened, when Hannah McDonald burst the zip on her apparently very expensive and designer skinny trousers, I did explain what the new consequences of this would be."
