Chapter 5 by LunaCee LunaCee

Okay. Something's definitely up. Do you notice before it's too late?

Barely

The swaying of her body side to side is entrancing, and you can't help but stare at her as she prepares your drinks.

Don't drink. The whispering voice returns. Can't trust.

Your brow furrows. She's just being polite, bringing you to her home, making you a beverage with her back turned... so you can't see what she's doing...

Can't trust Kumiho.

Kumiho?

Wants one thing. Will do anything.

You take a closer look at her and notice something about the fur beneath her robes. It isn't just one piece as you had thought earlier. It is nine separate segments, each fluffy portion ending in a smooth point. Few creatures in this world have multiple tails, fewer specifically nine. You have heard many stories of creatures like this. Most of them are harmless, bringers of good fortune; at worst, harmless tricksters.

But one...

Yes. One. One type is the complete opposite. One type is out to harm humans-- especially human males-- for its own gains. One is rumored to seduce men in order to eat their livers straight out of their still-living bodies.

Not safe.

Your brow furrows into a glare. How could you have let yourself be fooled by such a creature? Whatever happened to you after you entered that room must have dampened your ability to resist any emotional reaction.

Turn the tables.

What?

You know. She doesn't. Take advantage.

A strange sensation stirs within you, like a fire within your core spreading throughout your body. You nearly jump at a stirring within your groin, shocked at the completely new reaction. You had been trained never to allow such sensations, such desires to take hold within you. Whatever corruption has latched onto you is actively unwinding your years of training.

Don't drink.

She turns, breaking you from your train of thoughts as she walks towards you carrying two cups of tea on a simple tray.

"I hope you enjoy it," she says, kneeling across from you as she sets the tray on the table. Lifting one cup, she offers it to you. "It's an old family recipe."

To drink or not to drink, that is the question.
