Back home in the town

A couple of hours later the whole mess had been sorted out and the sheriff could finally return home; it was merely a few minutes before the dawn. Mary Anne Hornney did not have an ordinary house, she was an owner of a saloon. That was her source of (large) income, as the sheriff she worked for free.

The building was large and tall, apart from the main hall at the ground floor, there were two more floors. The place was spacious, it had a long bar, a stage for the dancers and a piano next to it. There were numerous tables, most with a good view of the stage, but some located in more private areas. There was a large kitchen and a few maintenance rooms on the back. On the first floor were located rooms for the guests, they could either sleep there over the night or indulge in certain forms of entertainment provided by the saloon. Mary’s apartment was located on the second floor, it was spacious and comfortable, there even was a balcony in her bedroom which overlooked the main street.

Mary Anne knocked on the back door which were soon opened by Dolores, Mary’s employee and a close friend. She was still wearing nothing but her short white nighty. Miss Hornney was the owner of the saloon, but it was Dolores who ran the place most of the time. She was of the same age as the sheriff, but as a former **** she had experienced too much in her life already. The two women had met many years ago, they quickly became friends and were inseparable ever since. Dolores was an inch shorter than Mary Anne and had equally prominent curves. Despite her age and experience her face managed to remain youthful and friendly. She kept her dark hair short, because they curled terribly and had a tendency to quickly turn into an awful mess.

The two women kissed their cheeks, then the sheriff began to tell her friend about the events of the night. As she talked they went to the bar where Dolores poured Mary a big whiskey, a mandatory drink after a kill. As the sheriff continued her katharsis Dolores prepared a bath for her. Hygiene was not overly popular among the people of the west, but Mary did her best to popularize this habit in Tytepoos.

Some time later, clean and relaxed, she could finally go to bed. She planned to sleep until noon, confident that Dolores would take care of the saloon. She needed to be well rested, because the next night was going to be busy as well, hopefully not because of bandits.
