The Date Continues

Back To Grinds

Olivia and I go down the four doors to Grinds for dessert and coffee "So Olivia, why here for dessert? Charlotte's Bistro has an amazing selection of dessert items!"

Olivia looks at me. "How soon the male of the species forgets!" she giggles. "This is where we first had a meaningful talk with each other, besides I developed an addiction for the Maple Cruller!"

"Why Olivia, so you have a sweet tooth?" as we walk through the door mrs Goodwin looks up.

"Oh Olivia! Another Pumpkin Spice Latte and Maple Cruller?" I look over to Olivia, obviously she's been back here a few times since we left. "And Max, you'll have your usual?"

We both answer yes but Olivia asks for an extra cruller. With a sly smile on her face she walks over to the table we sat at the first time we were here and I join her. "Max you don't mind coming here do you? I though we have this then go for a night cap at my place!" before I could reply Olivia ads "If that's okay with you that is?"

Mrs. Goodwin brings our order over, placing Olivia's first then mine, I go to pay "Nonsense Max, pay when you two leave or Olivia do you want me to put it on your tab?"

I feint being offended "Five years I've been coming here and you never offered me a tab!"

"Because I've only seen you seven times a week where this is Olivia's twenty-first time since she first came in the door a week ago!" Mrs. Goodwin turns and smiles at Olivia "Good customers deserve a break!"

Waiting for Mrs. Goodwin to leave, I can't help to think that Olivia may actually have an addiction and that maybe I should get a dozen crullers to go, if we are going back to her place! I must have given her a hint of what I was thinking.

"No crullers will be needed to get what I think is going through your mind!" So she's a mind reader, nice to know. "But they would come in handy for afterwards!" Then she takes a healthy sip of her latte followed by a giant bite of her cruller. The next half hour we chit chatted about our week in between sips of coffee and bites of donuts.

When we were ready to leave, I paid for our order and got a dozen of crullers to go. Mrs. Goodwin being the saint she is threw in two plain donuts for me. "You may need them before morning Max!" giving me a wink and a big smile to Olivia. The walk back to Olivia's place was done hand in hand and with the aroma of the donuts in my other hand.
