The first thing Abby did when she got home was check her bank statement and rent receipts.

Her heart dropped.

Her parents' rent money had run out. She had underestimated the cost of her apartment, and now she had less than a month to pay the expected amount. And to top it all off, her bank account was nearly drained after all the back-to-school shopping she'd done.

Abby gets into her bed and buries her face in her pillow.

What was she going to do? Even if she took Mr. Michaels' job offer, would it be enough to pay her entire rent? It was an expensive apartment, and she had half-hoped to save up for a second power, eventually. And power marbles weren't cheap.

Should she look for another job? A roommate? Or something else? Whatever she did, she had to do it quick. If she couldn't scrape enough dough together for next month's rent, she would be out on the streets. The landlords around these parts weren't patient.

Abby decides to stay up late looking through job listings online. She finds a few promising leads. And some... less promising ones as well.
