Automated technology.

Lucy had NO idea what to expect from this "exam", but she didn't like the idea of a stranger administering it to her while she was naked, so "automated technology", whatever THAT meant, sounded like a good option. She made the appropriate selection on the touch screen, and a new voice spoke. The voice sounded simulated, but extremely close to a real human voice. The pleasant-sounding female voice spoke up.

"Hello. You have selected to have your entrance exam conducted by automated technology. If this is correct, please say yes to proceed."

Lucy was still mildly annoyed at how disembodied the voice sounded, seemingly everywhere and nowhere. It almost seemed like it was being beamed directly into her head, as impossible as that was. "Yes", she reported to the voice, she was ready as she would ever be.

"Excellent!" The female voice sounded legitimately excited. "Our advanced physical exam will begin. Please lay down on the examination table, on your back."

Lucy complied. She expected the table to be cold, but it was warm to the touch. The material looked like cold, sterile metal, but was comfortable with some give. Once again, the technology implemented in this facility was unbelievable. Lucy settled down onto the table.

"Excellent. For accurate test results, we require the subject to be restrained. Please remain still for restraint calibration."

Restraint? Was that really necessary? Lucy had calmed her nerves with everything so far, but she didn't deal with closed or tight spaces very well. She wasn't so sure she would be ok with being restrained. "Is this really...?"

The voice interrupted "Please remain still. This will only take a few moments." Lucy closed her eyes, trying to remain calm. She heard a sudden "snap", and when she opened her eyes, metal restraints had extended from the table and looped around her wrists and ankles. "NO!" Lucy freaked out. This was too much!

"Restraint calibration complete. Heart rate is rising. Please be advised: if necessary, a sedative will be administered."
