Chapter 3

What does he do?
Attack before she strikes
Without a moment's hesitation, John immediately sprang into action, lunging at the vampire with an outstretched hand. He closed it around her throat hard and began to squeeze, his face contorted into grim determination. His body was screaming in protest but he ignored it. If he didn't kill her now, doubtless she'd drain him of blood by the end of this day.
The vampire was shocked for a few moments, eyes widening as he tried to push her to the ground and crush her windpipe. John smirked in triumph. When this was over, he'd be able to prove that this prodigy wasn't out of commission just yet.
Then the vampire's face contorted into a vicious snarl and her hand lashed out, racking her sharp nails down his cheek. John shrieked, trying to hold his grip, but when she left deep. open gashes across his other cheek he released his grip and brought his hand to try and stifle the bleeding. The vampire instead grabbed his wrists and **** his hands by his sides, overpowering him easily. Damn it, if it wasn't for his injuries, especially this damn broken leg, his enhanced strength and speed would let him put up more of a fight than he already was.
His struggling ceased altogether when she straddled him, pinning him to the couch with a harsh, cold glare replacing her warmth and affection. John stared into her eyes, seeing her anger, shock and...pain. Most of all, a deep pain.
"What," she hissed at him through clenched teeth, her fangs prominently displayed, "the. Ever. Loving. FUCK?!"
John grimaced in defiance, trying to say something as he began to struggle again. This time, he stopped when she brought her head down right next to his face with a predatory hiss, mouth open wide with her gleaming fangs now elongated into knife-like protrusions. Her eyes blazed with an unquenchable fire.
"I saved your life, goddamn it, and you try to kill me the moment you wake up?!" Her voice was laced with venom with every hissing syllable.
John snorted. "You really think I believe that pack of lies from a bloodsucker like you? Go on, get it over with already. Just kill me."
It was her turn to grimace now, like she'd been stung. If John didn't know any better, he'd swear there were small tears forming in her eyes.
"You're the first person I've seen in years," she said softly, without a hint of threat. "I don't even need to drink your blood. I've got stores of it." Her features were softened, and John suddenly realized the tears he'd thought imaginary were very, very real.
"Besides," she continued, licking her lips and sniffing the air around his face, "it's my fault you got so badly hurt. I'd say it's fair I patched you up."
John was taken aback from these revelations. From her body language and tone she seemed to be telling the truth, but he was still on guard. She could be lying to gain his trust then she tear out his throat in seconds.
"Hunters," she breathed huskily. John almost jumped out his skin at this change. She squirmed against him slightly, biting her lower lip as she began panting. "You're all t-the same," she continued, eyes flickering to the blood trailing down his cheeks. Then John realized the cause of her mood swing.
She's hungry. John had been taught extensively on what fresh blood did to vampires. It was intoxicating for them, like a **** they couldn't resist sampling. It was a trait of theirs hunters had taken advantage of for centuries.
"How do you know I'm a hunter," he said, trying to play it cool and prolong this. If he could get her drinking his blood and resist the aphrodisiac effects, he was sure he'd be able to snap her neck, even in his injured state. It might not kill her but it would be a start.
"Your bag," she said, her voice smoky and low, "I searched it w-when I-I found you." Her panting was getting stronger, and she'd loosened her grip on his wrists ever so slightly.
John was about to press his advantage when she suddenly sat up, eyes closed as she shook her head thoroughly. When she opened them, there were traces of her desire but also a steely determination in them. "I'm not stupid," she said firmly, "I know you want me to drink your blood. Classic hunter tactic. Lure a vampire in with something so," she inhaled deeply through her nose, eyelids fluttering briefly before she focused again, "intoxicating as fresh blood, then a stake through the heart." She smirked triumphantly. "Not gonna happen, big boy. Not with me."
John had to admit, he was impressed she'd got onto his plan so easily. Not that it wasn't hard to stop once you examined the variables
"I should get you some bandages," the vampire said quickly, "to stop the bleeding. Will you promise to stay here and not try and kill me again?"
While he wasn't sure what to do at first, he still saw the need and desire floating in her. She may have regained control of herself for now, but if he could just find some chink in her armor he'd be able to tear it off and then he would be all hers, helpless to stop him this time.
"Can't vampires heal wounds they cause?" he asked with a cool tone. She blinked, startled.
"Yes, uh, but there has to be some other...f-factors," she said before her voice turned into a hiss. Her hips moved of their own accord, grinding against him. Inwardly he smirked, knowing that he'd landed the first blow. One more and the flood gates would open. He wasn't familiar with the aphrodisiac of a vampire feeding, however, so he was preparing to brace himself for that.
"Like what?" he continued.
"Uh, like, willingness on the part of the vampire and the wounded party to heal their wound," she looked away from him, having stopped moving through a considerable amount of willpower, "and how much healing saliva the vampire in question has."
"I see," he said, "do you have enough healing saliva?"
She bit her lip, and John saw the struggle in her eyes as she tried to avoid looking at him. She nodded her head once, reluctantly.
"In that case, you could fix up my cheeks easily," he said, startling her into looking back to him with wide eyes. "Go ahead. I promise, I won't hurt you this time if you just heal me up."
Both knew that she wouldn't be able to resist tasting his blood. And from there, it would be a piece of cake for John to break free and slay her.
Her mouth hung open slightly in a dull fashion as she stared at him, inhaling the scent of his blood with every intake of breath through her perfect nose. Desire struggled to assert itself within her.
All John had to do was wait for her to give in.
Does she heal him?
