Attack!

“Your response?” Karsten demanded, straightening his outfit again. He looked for all the world like some kind of imperial officer or something.

“Sorry oh friend of mine but I think I’ll be taking these girls and running” you say to the man. “And we might just go through that piddly little frigate of yours” you add. Tanna dutifully hit the end call button and Karsten’s cry of rage was cut off before it could be truly heard.

“If you put enough fire on the shields, the entire ship’s powergrid will overload” Sata said. When you and Tanna looked at her she continued. “Karsten never would let me work on it and kept his favourite pet for that job. Guy’s great at fighters, horrible at actual starships and the ship’s got nowhere near the twenty thousand odd people it needs to crew it” She explained

“Well then” you say with a vicious smirk “come on then girl, let’s get the fat bitch” you say, attracting looks from both Sata and Tanna.

“We’ve got fighters incoming!” Tanna called out as multiple contacts appeared from under the ship. You looked at Sata for a response.

“Dunelizards, must have blown the hangar bay doors, the motors are fried” she explained over her shoulder. That having been said, you engaged the squadron of fighters, all seven in total. The initial volley of laser fire hammered at the Eos’ shields but otherwise didn’t do much, the return fire however destroyed two of the enemy fighters in the first volley. Flying straight past each other, the ship shook dramatically and your attention turned to the dreadnought. You could see that the ship was flooding the void with turbolaser fire and it was one of these bolts that hit the Eos. You frantically punched commands into your console and the ship lurched as it twisted as the engines threw it forward. Getting on the tail of the Dunelizards wasn’t easy, the ships were easily more maneuverable than the Eos. The fact that your laser cannons could move a little themselves helped immensely, you thought as you destroyed another fighter. Twisting the Eos again, you made to put the four enemy fighters between you and the dreadnought hoping that it would stop the enemy fire, this however, did not happen and another dunelizard was destroyed by the turbolaser fire coming from the dreadnaught.

With the last three remaining fighters moving back in to engage you, you threw the ship into another maneuver, bringing the ship’s nose around to face them. Immediately, bright red trails of light lit up the void of space as your cannons began firing rapidly, drenching the area in front of you in a cone of laser fire. The three Dunelizards tried breaking off but it was too little, too late, and all three detonated in spectacular fashion. With the fighters gone, you had only a moment to consider your attack strategy on the dreadnought as more turbolaser fire flooded the space between you and the enemy ship. Taking full advantage of gaps in the firing arcs, you hit the thrusters and made a beeline directly for the enemy ship. With the amount of fire the ship was putting out, you could easily see there was almost no weapons on the top section of the ship so you made a dash for it.

The Eos shuddered as her new turbolasers fired, pounding out large streaks of brilliant red which hammered into the shields of the dreadnought. You flew down the length of the dreadnaught as your cannons fired, mixing in with the laser cannons for added fire power as you went. When you got to the front of the dreadnought, you threw the Eos up and performed a space version of an immelman roll, going up, twisting over and then coming back down again, where your guns again started firing as you made another attack run. This time you had an even better effect as, halfway through the run, the dreadnought’s shields clicked off and your turbolasers hammered into the hull, blasting sections of armour plating off the ship. You finished your attack run with the engines which, owing to a lack of armour, exploded almost as soon as your turbolasers struck them.

“Hell yeah!” Tanna cried out, as the Eos darted through the cloud of residue and burning fuel that had been sprayed into the void by the exploding engines.

“We’re making a run on those guns now” You say as the ship rocked form an impact, as one of the few guns capable of targeting you actually hit the Eos. You flew past the engines and kept going before twisting the Eos around and making a pass on the side of the dreadnought. Sata focused on the last gun from your position and it was only as you were just passing firing range that the turret exploded, apparently the turrets had a lot of armour. In this time the Eos took a few more hits, shaking you and the rest of the cockpit.

How are we taking so many hits?!” Sata asked as she looked over at the shields display that Tanna was watching.

“Military grade shields. Guns, focus Sata!” you chide the Pantoran who blushed and returned to her console. You twisted the Eos around again and once more, a turret exploded almost at the end of your attack run. You repeated this process for every single turret the ship had until finally the ship was a stricken, burning hulk in space.

“Can we even kill that thing?” Tanna asked as the three of you watched the dreadnought burn.

“Maybe if we hit the hangar bays?” Sata replied “we might be able to get a lucky shot or something,” she added.

“This would be so much easier with torpedoes” you grouch, knowing you’d have to add those to the Eos at some point. “Alright Sata, get ready to make a run on their hangar bays” you say as you fly the craft down below the enemy ship. Twisting around, you flew straight at one of the open hangar bays, Sata firing with everything as you did so. At the end of your run there was a satisfying explosion, which lead to secondary explosions along the entire bottom section of the dreadnought’s hull. “Well, it’s not properly dead but that’ll do” you say with a satisfied smirk, turning the craft around and making for the jump point. Punching in a reverse order of the coordinates that got you there in the first place, the Eos punched into hyperspace, starting the two day journey back to Coruscant.
