The temple

At the Temple of Light and Faith

It was one day's journey to the Temple of Light and Faith, but it was worth it for the grand entrance alone. Carved seemingly from a single piece of stone by the finest craftsmen into a building of immense scale. It was, after all, the largest structure on the continent. Guarded at the doorway and at all windows by fierce-looking gargoyles, yet at the same time beautiful in a way so as to inspire serenity and tranquility. If it could be compared to anything on Earth, it would be an ancient cathedral, minus the stained-glass. These windows were left open, in accordance with the teaching 'protect yourself from, but do not forsake, the elements, for these too are my children (from The Holy Tome of our Creator and Beloved, Utoness)'. Even from outside, the wind whistling and echoing through the massive interior could be heard, and it was said that it filled those who heard with either hope or fear, depending on the cleanliness of their soul. Marianne couldn't help but sing softly, wordlessly to herself to accompany it. As the door of the temple opened, the wind-song changed from a high, sweet tone to a loud gust. But it was short-lived, and soon was almost unnoticeable.

The four entered that main hall, stepping under it's many ornate arches on their way to the main altar. Marianne knelt before it and offered a silent prayer to Utoness. The wind went silent and the sunlight dimmed slightly. However, none who witnessed this phenomenon were ever afraid of it, because they knew it was nothing to be afraid of. Utoness was coming. And this day, she came to four hopeful travelers.

Utoness. To say she was beautiful would be almost insulting. She would have put Aphrodite herself to shame. Utoness is beyond description, except as awe-inspiring and perfect. She smiled a benevolent smile upon the travelers.

"My children," She said in voice sweeter than anything else in existence, a voice that reminded them of their mother's most caring moments. None of them could speak in Her presence. "You have come seeking me, and I have come. For what do you seek me?"

Marianne swallowed hard and looked, gazed, up at her. "M-my lady...We have come seeking your aid. We are searching for a way to eliminate a demon, an abomination, and a blasphemy to Your Name."

Utoness chuckled slightly. "You are devout, are you not? I shall help my followers when they ask it of me. However, to assist you in taking a life, I must not do."

Rebecca stood up. "You have to! It's Arakarin!"

"Rebecca!"

"Arakarin? I see. So another pack of humans seeks to destroy my most despicable child."

"Another?"

Another?
