Chapter 4 by SpiralFelix SpiralFelix

Where did Mackenzie work?

At an on-campus cafe

It wasn't anything fancy, but nestled right next to the school's library was a small breakfast cafe. The Energy 'n' Fuel Cafe served various kinds of coffee, some donuts, and even a few breakfast sandwiches. But thanks to their prime location, they got plenty of students buying from them every day (especially between classes when there was a flood of students all trying to get their caffeine fix). Mackenzie had a four hour afternoon shift there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And with today being Monday, it was her first official day of work after finishing her training last Friday. It wasn't exactly enjoyable work, but the paycheck would make a big difference in Mackenzie's life.

The redhead had been hesitant to take the job, until she heard about the dress code: visor, apron, pants, and a t-shirt with the cafe's logo on it. The cafe would, of course, provide the visor, apron, and several appropriate t-shirts for Mackenzie and she could wear whatever pants she wished. To Mackenzie, the prospect of three free t-shirts up front was too good to turn down. Never mind the fact that she hadn't actually owned any pants at that point (hence her buying a pair of oversized jeans over the weekend), she'd taken the job.

Mackenzie pulled the three shirts out of her backpack, having picked them up from the cafe earlier that morning. She unfurled a bright green one that proudly said "E'n'F CAFE!" in yellow and blue letters on the front. Not exactly fashionable, but beggars couldn't be choosers. She tugged the shirt on, finding it just a tad small. It hugged her figure fairly closely, especially around her chest. Then Mackenzie stepped into her sole pair of pants, which fit her far more loosely than she would have liked. But putting on the belt and cinching it tight kept the jeans in place on her hips. Looking herself over in the mirror, she had to admit the getup didn't look too bad on her. But then again, Mackenzie could make just about anything look good. Her lack of a bra meant she could see the bumps of her nipples poking ever so slightly into the t-shirt. But hopefully once she got her apron that wouldn't be an issue. Running low on time, the redhead pulled her coat and shoes back on. Mackenzie elected to leave her backpack in her room, simply stuffing her phone and her keys into her pockets.

Ten minutes later, Mackenzie arrived at the cafe. Her manager, Ben, gave Mackenzie a matching green apron and visor, along with a nametag proudly displaying "MACKENZIE" which she pinned to her shirt. Then, he explained what work Mackenzie would be doing that day.

What work was Mackenzie assigned?
