Assessing her Fleet

When Katla had heard about the assignments she'd pictured something calm and organized, a series of files being sent out in an orderly manner to tell everyone where they were going to go. Her personal tablet pinged and she quickly checked it, wondering what she would be getting... it was at that moment she realized that instead of an orderly process this was going to be more akin to a stereotypical high school movie.

Everyone started clustering up with their friends, treating assignments like they were a card game and apparently freely trading them at will. It was to Katla's surprise when she got her own that she'd been assigned the rank of Commodore. Nominally she was a part of Third Fleet but it was pretty clear that she was expected to act apart from the main body. Full fleet engagements were relatively rare. Ships were expensive and risking your millions of credits battleship for a few rocks that weren't even worth that much didn't make any sense.

Her assigned forces were a single heavy cruiser, two corvettes and a light carrier.
