Ask for directions

You approach the house and lean casually on the fence.

"Hi", you try to say in your broken Italian. "Where is the centre?"

"You are a bit lost", the man replies in English.

You breath a sigh of relief.

"Can you give me directions?" you ask.

He points back the way you came. In the distance, you can see the spire of the cathedral. You turn to go.

"Where are you from?" the man asks.

"I'm from England", you reply.

"What do you think of our country?" he continues.

"It's beautiful", you reply.

With the exception of your hostel, this is mostly true. You would recommend this place to your friends when you return to England.

The man asks you a few more questions, and you gladly reply, happy to chat to someone.

"Do you want to come in for a drink?" he finally asks.
