"So, I wanted to talk to you about Emma, the girl you had be my servant so far?" you ventured,

"Is she not measuring up? I'm sorry Jack, my mistake. I'll make sure she's punished properly and get you a better one. would you like her out in the stocks or on pony duty? I can get you a man servant this time if you want."

"No! No! that's not it at all! I actually wanted to say she's been great and I want her to be my servant permanently, if that's alright?"

"Of course it's alright! You'd actually be doing her a favor, personal servants get to live in your room and eat at meals with us. You can even marry her if you want."

"Whoa, I only just met her!"

"So? It's clear she likes you more than she's liked any other guest we've had."

"Maybe I'll just wait a bit before making a decision on that."

"Ok, suit yourself."

“Why aren’t you married?”

“No reason really. I guess I’ve just never been interested in romance. Sex is fun and politically useful, but outside of that this whole thing is a job like any other. I’m thinking of retiring and opening a bakery, or maybe an Italian restaurant. Garlic bread is a favorite of mine.”

“Is that why I’m here?”

“Yup! I’ll stick around for a few more years to get you integrated and set you up with the proper connections but after that I’m outta here.”

“But why? This seems like the coolest job ever!”

“In some ways it is, but honestly after the hundredth time trying to get two cougars to agree on a policy by throwing a Twink at them it gets a bit old. I’m not trying to scare you off, just preparing you for what’s coming.”

“I think I understand.”

“No, you don’t. You will eventually though. I’ll make sure of that. Take the rest of the day off and explore around if you want. Tomorrow I’ll introduce you to the less-fun bits of the job.”
