You head into the market stall of a pair of Roman men, both solidly built and heavily (if unstylishly) bearded. One merely nods at you in greeting, but the other comes forward to assist you. "Welcome, sir. Welcome. We have all your needs for arms and armor - just say the word, and it is yours. Vulcan's blessings are upon all of our ironwork."

You gaze around at the racks of weapons and armor on the shelves, taking in prices and the variety of armor plates available for purchase. The following items seem to be available:

Gladius (10 denarii)

Armor coat (8 denarii)

Helm (2 denarii)

Scutum shield (5 denarii)

It's a sword, but of an unfamiliar design: slightly curved on one side, the blade seems to glisten darkly as the daylight shines on its iron. The hilt is expertly worked in a fan-shaped brass design.
