And time to find Louis
Tony parked out front, about a block back due to the other cars bumper to bumper lined up in front of the sorority. He walked up to the front door, pausing to read a handwritten sticky note taped to the door.
"Party is inside! Come right on in!" So much for security. Tony opened the door and stepped inside.
It was a mess. There were at least two spills in the living room to the left, countless empty bottles littering the kitchen tables to the right, and students everywhere yelling, drinking, making out, and dancing. Heavy techno music was blaring from speakers spread all through the house. Tony enjoyed a much quieter party than this, more in the vein of 'Play Catan with chips, dip, drinks, and friends', so he was a little unnerved.
"Hey," he said (consciously raising his voice) to the nearest person he could find, a girl chatting with one of her friends by the door. "Have you seen Louis around? Big guy, ginger?"
"Oh, hi!" the girl said turning to him. "Yeah, I know Louis! He's so sweet, he gave me a great back massage. He's upstairs I think?"
Tony couldn't even help but feel a little jealous. He'd never know how to offer a girl a back massage, but knowing Louis it was probably something he did without even thinking about it. Making that kind of offer would have been harder given the girl in question too - she was pretty, a little short but a cute smile and ample curves. Blonde hair cascading in waves around her head, and a loose blouse.
As Tony was lost in thought, staring vaguely a the girl, she continued talking. "Are you his roommate? He said his roommate was coming to pick him up."
"Oh, er - yes." Tony said. She smiled a little at his distraction.
"Follow me." And turning back to her friend "I'll be just a minute." She headed for the stairs and Tony followed. She turned back to him as they climbed.
"My name's Cassie, by the way. Short for Cassandra. I don't think we've met."
"Tony", Tony replied. "Which is just short for... Tony. You... go to school here?"
"Yes, I'm in this sorority, after all," she said cheerily. "So, sometimes!" Well, that'd make sense, if she was at a sorority party. But in the habit of skipping classes as a Kappa Eta Sigma member? Or was that just a joke?
"What's your major?" he asked.
"I'm a poli sci major myself, you'd be surprised at how much falls under that umbrella. I'm hoping to run for some local offices, or if that fails maybe help run someone else's campaigns." she said sheepishly.
"And you say you only sometimes go to class?"
She noticed the puzzled look on his face. "My family is pretty rich, and tried to convince me to just work for them, but... I kinda wanted to strike out on my own a bit and get an education. So here I am. I don't always go to class, but my grades are good enough, and I'm surprised at how much I knew before going here. Plus, the social scene is pretty great! And distracting. If my political dreams don't pan out, the family business is waiting for me after school." He nodded. He wasn't exactly sure what to say, not knowing her that well.
"How about you? What's your major?" she asked him.
"Ah - biology, with a specialization in biochemistry." he answered with a hint of pride.
"Oh cool! Do you know what you want to do with that?"
"Not exactly yet, some kind of research. Maybe here or at another school if I can't get into one of the major national labs this summer for an internship."
"Neat," she said. Biochem was one of those things most people knew close to nothing about, so it ended plenty of conversations. They had reached a hallway on the second floor landing, Cassie was looking around, scanning for Louis. Nowhere in sight yet.
Cassie, a few steps ahead, opened one of the doors slightly to peek into one of the rooms and quickly put a hand over her mouth. Tony couldn't tell whether it was in shock, laughter, or both. She turned to him, putting a finger to his lips to tell him to be quiet and made to shoo him away from the door.
"They might be a little while," she said, glimmer in her eyes, and made to close the door.
Does Tony look?
