An orphanage

About an hour later Cathy came to get Lara "come along sweetie we have an appointment to keep", Lara would have rather stayed close to her flat where Saya would be tomorrow but she decided causing a fuss now wouldn't solve anything, this woman believed she was just eight years old and without any evidence Lara doubted she could change her mind even if she stopped talking like a child, during the car ride Lara fell asleep so she was not sure how far they had traveled but it must have been quite some way as it was dark when they pulled up outside St Mary's Orphanage, oh crap i have to try and convince her now that I'm really eighteen, quickly she tried to transform her speech back by thinking hard on how she used to talk but for some reason it failed to work.

Lara kept trying all the while she was being led inside but still nothing, on the way in she took note of the high wall surrounding the place and the intercom buzzer system they used to get in, both would prove difficult to get past if she had to escape so she refocused on trying to talk normaly again but once more another failure, soon she was brought to the office and they had an interview asking her about many things like her parents, unfortunately every time she tried to give a proper answer like her mom's address it came out as "she lives far away", Lara was thinking they must have taken that as child code for dead as they carried on with her registration, after that they took her picture and filled out some forms eventually giving her an ID card with her picture, age, a few other things and her name Lara White.

Once everything was done she was given a bag with her new uniform in and a lady came to get her, the woman said she was going to be in the White dorm which was then she made the connection to her new last name, i guess all the kids in that dorm get the same last name to make them feel like a family, thinking about the other children it occurred to her i never actually tried to talk like a child, when it happened i was thinking of changing my voice while looking at me thinking i looked like a child so instead of trying to talk like an adult i should think of changing my voice while thinking of me as an adult, praying that had worked she decided to test it, while talking so low she wouldn't be heard she said "I'm actually eighteen years old" Lara was ecstatic it had finally worked but now it was too late, she was legally registered here as an orphan and after the interview there was no way she could say she made it all up, even if they believed her they would probably call the police as pretending to be a child would make her look like she was a pervert , for the time being it looks like i am going to have to play along until i can find a way to escape later.
