An Interesting Character

You had always wondered about your uncle John. According to your family and Wikipedia he was a lobbyist on behalf of corporations like the one your parents owned, but aside from that you didn’t know very much about him.

He’d show up around the holidays, give expensive gifts, tell a few raunchy jokes, and participate in kareoke, but aside from once or twice a year it’s almost as if your parents didn’t acknowledge his existence until a week ago when they informed you that instead of taking a monthlong stay at Disney followed by a hiking trip across Colorado like you had planned for your post-graduation summer, you were going to be staying with him.

Uncle John met you outside his mansion wearing cowboy boots, jeans, and a tshirt. A far cry from the button ups and formal wear your family usually wore day in and day out. He was your dad’s older brother by a couple years, putting him in his mid-40’s. He never seemed to have a wife or children though. He was tall and muscular with short black hair, and walked as if he was comfortable in any situation. Not a single gray hair graced his head.

“John, it’s good to see you.” Said your father with his trademark deadpan way of talking

“Good to see you too Ken. And you are looking lovely today Linda!” Your uncle said, greeting your parents. He then turned to you.

“How’s it going little miss!” He said

“It’s going great Uncle John!” You said

“Awesome! Glad you could be here! Now, if you will all come inside, I think it’s time we introduced Sarah here to the family secret...”
