Amy goes to meet the landlord alone

Amy decides not to say anything to Mark yet. She will work out the deal, then give him the news once she knows what the landlord has planned.

She walks up to the landlords house, nervous but hopeful, and rings the doorbell. After a few moments, he opens the door, and smiles at her oddly. She isn't sure what to think, but he leads her into the living room. He asks Amy to sit down, and she sits on the edge of the couch.

"So, you need to keep from being evicted, and I need my money. It would seem we are at an impass with our choices."

Amy isn't sure what to think. "But you said we could work out some kind of deal!"

"That I did," the landlord smirks.

He slides a piece of paper across the coffee table to Amy. She picks it up and starts reading it. As she reads through the contract he had written up, her eyes get wide. "You can't be serious!?"

"Oh, I'm totally serious" he says. "If you want to stay in your house without paying rent until you get back on your feet, those are the conditions. Otherwise, I expect you to start packing your things."
