Hardness. Resistence to Elements. Resitence to certain forms of attacks such as peircing, slicing, chopping, concusive etc. The list goes on.

No element has all resistence and the only things that may come close or be a go to interms of combat is three liquid infused materials.

Steel

Wood

In my reality, steel is harder than wood yes, but by only so much. Hardened wood is closer to the hardness of steel in the sense that it can be used to effectively combat it.

However wood is weak to fire, and steel isnt as weak.

Steel is weak to certain forms of attacks like peircing due to arrangment of molecules and relative strength of attack.

However wood is not particularly weak to peircing.

Steel is also weak to electricity but again wood is not particularly weak to it.

This basically makes it so space comat and advancement of technology isnt linear and simple. Each battle has very unique ships circumstances and innovative ways of using materials one would t normally think to bring in space combat missions in normal reality.
