About "Adrian", just a little...

"My name has always been Adrienne," she started, "but I changed the spelling after Take-Two. Before the procedure... I was a boy." A couple of participants gasped, softly murmuring their disbelief. After a brief pause, she continued.

"Had two brothers, a Mom, and a Dad. A home.” Her voice was low and crackled, like someone trying to give a speech before getting out of bed. “After the procedure, I’m a girl now. Now I live in an apartment close to work. That’s all…”

One of the other girls, completely missing the heft of Adrienne's statements, chimed in with a question. "Why did you change from a boy to a girl?"

"Because she was trans, of course," barked an arrogant-sounding young man. "Lots of trans people sign up for Take-Two."

Before anyone could start bickering, Adrienne speaks up again, the room going quiet to pick up her soft, delicate voice. "I... I'm not sure, actually. Or, I wasn't. I didn't really know much about transgender people or things like that before I signed up." Little Adrienne couldn't bring her eyes off the ground as she spoke, feet pointing inward nervously. "I thought at first, when I came in, that I would make myself manlier with the procedure. Be someone my Dad would like me to be. The longer I sat looking at the options, though, the more wrong that felt. I realized what... what my choice was going to be."

The other participants watched as Adrienne spoke, seeing her shoulders hunch as if a greater weight was resting upon her, bringing her down. Dr. Fischer began to sweat, concerned that Adrienne's aura of regret was going to grow contagious. It was important to the company that the participants felt and shared their positive experiences, given they were the vast majority of cases. It was someone else's turn to share.
