Chapter 8 by angryspaz angryspaz

Will you return home in glory, or march south and seize your prize?

Aard will pay double for what it has done

King Lovka brought this war to your lands. As your men freed captured women and looted the valuables of the Sudjutyr loot wagon, you remarked on the terror that his greed had caused. No, you would not allow him to face your unsteady father's judgement. Instead, you would act as the prince you were and do what you thought was right.

At this very moment, the Sudjutyr host was smashed. Should he march south, the tribes Lovka had rallied to his side would flee home, protecting their own villages first. You wager you could march directly to the town of Haderslev, the capital of Aard, without being intercepted. You doubted the garrison would resist you if you came with their king in toe, but even if they did they would only be a token **** left behind in the wake of the invasion. They would be easy to sweep aside.

You took the momentum while you had it. Your surviving men, some 175 in total, marched south with a few key prisoners from the battle, including King Lovka. When you arrived at Hederslev, you announced that you had the king and presented him before the walls, having an envoy present the king's crown to the garrison commander. Things progressed as you expected. The commander surrendered to you and you occupied the castle without incident. The garrison, some 25 men, was stripped of its arms and sent home. Your men occupied the castle.

The servants were taken prisoner and **** to cook and clean for the newly occupying army. The maids and beds ervents, nubile wenches as they were, found themselves cleaning in other ways. The town was looted of its wealth over the course of several days. Much of this treasure went straight to your men, which they were happy to take, but you saw to it that Ylva and Radulfr gathered a great portion of it in the keep. Your father would surely want a slice, as would you. The whores in their brothels may have suffered most, as they were taken without compensation.

It was time to take retribution upon the people who had wronged you. The king had led them, yes, but they were complicit in his crimes. You would do to them a thousand-fold what they had done to your people.

As you thought about the future, a phrase came to mind: To the victor, go the spoils.

The Countryside
