Chapter 3
by Duas
Who is her target?
A wealthy-looking, fat merchant.
The young thief started following the merchant through the crowded streets of Edain. For being as chubby as this man was, he moved quite fast and she had to follow him for nearly fifteen minutes before she caught up with him.
Finally he stopped right outside the gate of a big house, and stood there as if wondering if he should enter or not.
Without hesitating a moment, the young thief pulled her short dagger from her sleeve and with a swift movement cut the merchant's purse from his belt.
She then turned and started to walk away from the unsuspecting man, but as she did she found herself face to face with a huge thug, possibly a mercenary. Before she could react he grabbed her arm and took the purse from her at the same time as he spun her around to face the merchant.
"Well done, Alec!" The fat man grinned as his bodyguard handed him the purse. "And for you, young lady, I'm sure you know what the punishment for stealing is? Right, they cut your hand off!"
He laughed loudly as Jennai futilely tried to escape the thug's grip, but then he got a cunning glint in his eye.
"But you know what? I'm willing to let you go, and I'll even allow you to keep my gold, for your aid in certain matters..."
Does the thief agree?
