Chapter 10 by cphi cphi

What's next?

A surprise waiting at home.

{if HomeFromBoat = 1
}Beth shook her head. "Sorry. I think I've had enough fun for one day, I'm going to head home."
"Booo." Lindsay didn't hide her disapproval.
Beth drove home from the marina{if BoatForced = 1
} and not for the first time, she wondered what was wrong with her. Should have just said, "no, thanks." She tried to forget that how much she had enjoyed watching Jake's chest and abs ripple and contract while he fucked Lindsay's ass. {elseif TimNumber = 1
} and tried to put the incident on the boat behind her. The thrill was still there, she could still feel what she did... feel the memory of it. I walked away. I'm going home. {else
}. She was slightly sun burned and a little tired, but considering everything, she wasn't unhappy she had said yes.{endif

{elseif Career = 0
}Beth wondered what she was going to do all afternoon and evening with Brian at a work party all night. It's not a party, it's a business soiree or whatever they call it. They are courting big client. It didn't make it any less annoying to have to start her weekend alone.
{elseif Career = 1
} With her shift starting at 4, Bethwas eager to get home in time to finish a few last minute tasks before getting dressed, doing her makeup and fixing her hair. She liked to look presentable{if PhotoDay = 1
}, and if she was going to convince Seth to help her, maybe it wouldn't hurt to be a little dolled up. {else

}Beth needed to shave and pick her outfit for the club that night{if Unconvinced = 1
}, and she was still worried about the whole situation with Damien, and what might happen...{else

}{elseif Career = 4
}Beth spent the drive home wondering if she should have just gone with Lindsay. The pics of the boat that Lindsay sent as she walked through the front door didn't help. She kicked herself. She needed a drink and to start thinking about what she'd do for the rest of the day without Brian.{elseif Career = 3
}Fridays were often like this for Beth. She didn't work at the spa and kept her in house appointments to a minimum. The idea had been to free up the day to start the weekend with Brian, but recently he'd been working late of Fridays more and more, just like today with this "event." She couldn't help but get frustrated.{endif

Beth's mind was on these things when she absentmindedly entered her townhouse, setting down her keys and purse before turning towards the living room... and screaming in surprise. There was a strange man sleeping on her couch!
"AHHH!!"
"AARGH!!" The man jolted awake at her scream, stumbling into a sitting position and grabbing the back of the couch to steady himself.
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!" Beth reached into the knife drawer, grabbing a carving knife.
"Whoa, whoa whoa.... I'm Kyle! I'm Brian's brother! This is Brian's place, right?"
As the adrenaline started to fade, Beth realized that the "man" on the couch was younger than she first thought... maybe 22 at the oldest. He had on camo fatigue pants and a green, skintight undershirt, and a military style haircut. He looked like a younger, more muscular version of her fiance, with lighter brown hair and light eyes. The barest hint of stubble marred his otherwise baby face.
"Jesus...fucking...."Beth dropped the knife.
"You must be Beth." Kyle Jackson was rubbing his eyes, now. "It's nice to meet you, ma'am."
"What are you doing here? I thought you were in Syria?"
"I got my discharge a couple of days ago... I texted Brian this morning when I got in, he told me where to find the key. I'm sorry, ma'am, I thought he would have told you."
"Why are you calling me that?" Beth put the knife away and tried to calm down, standing at the edge of the kitchen with her arms crossed, annoyed.
"Sorry, ma'am... sorry, Beth it's just habit. I have to admit, when you screamed... I didn't quite remember where I was... thought I was still..." he shuddered.
Beth tried to relax. This wasn't Kyle's fault. It was Brian's. "I'm sorry, Kyle, I didn't mean to scream, you just startled me."
"So I'm guessing Brian didn't tell you..."
"No... no he did not."
"That's typical. You don't have to apologize, m... Beth. I'm sorry I frightened you. I was on a red-eye all night and I'm still on the other side of the world in my brain. I just crashed." He stood up, and politely extended his hand. "Sorry for my terrible manners. It's nice to meet you."
Beth sighed, knocking his hand aside and giving him a hug. "It's nice to meet you too, Kyle."
