A surprise addition to the party

Traveling for a good hour down the road a sharp whistle from behind catches the party’s attention. Everyone turns to look behind, scanning the tree line. After not seeing anything, you hear Petra shriek in surprise as you turn to see the commotion. Two familiar half elves stand in front of the party, as if they appeared from nowhere. Krest and Bax go for their weapons but you stroll forward taking position in front of them.

“Relax lads, they’re with us.” You say reassuringly.

“Don’t recall asking any half elves along.” Bax says narrowing his eyes.

“Yeah, that was my doin’. Guild sent us on what may be a suicide mission dependin’ on how many orcs there are. I recruited a wee bit of outside help.”

“Heya, I’m Red.” One speaks.

“And I’m Skye.” The other says chipperly.

“And I’m assuming they’re to take part of our pay?” Bax asks, turning to you.

“Aye, but it’s per head. So long as there are plenty o’ orcs, you’ll still get more than a fair share of gold.” Bax nods in agreement, seeing your logic.

“The more the merrier!” Petra says waving to the girls. Skye shyly waves back.

“I don’t see an issue with it.” Krest says. “The quicker and more efficiently we can wipe out the camp, the safer town will be.”

“Then it’s settled.” You say “We’re officially a group of six! Welcome to the team Skye n’ Red!”

“You sound different from when we last met…” Skye says trailing off.

Oh, shit my accent! I forgot I was doin’ a posh accent fer them to blend in as an elf.

Red’s eyes light up as she puts things together. She bursts out laughing as everyone else is left wondering what’s so funny. You and Red manage to talk things over as you continue walking. The twins are cool with you giving them the slip on account of the job you gave them. You can’t be too bothered they were going to mug you as they’re helping you out now.

As you and Red talk, you watch Skye and Petra become increasingly good friends throughout the journey. They both seem rather pure-hearted so it’s no wonder they get along.
