A strange Store

On your walk home you happen to notice a strange sign in front of a recently purchased house. The sign says Antique Pawnshop. It is strange that someone would open up a store in a house in the suburbs. The store looks like it has just opened, you don’t know why you haven’t noticed the place before, maybe the sign wasn’t there yet. Well, you figure you might as well check it out, you’re not in too much of a hurry to get home and discuss your grades with your mom and Mrs. Kline. You walk up the sidewalk to the door of the strange pawn shop, you slowly open it and walk inside. You hear the door chime as you enter, and immediately you see a very old and yet, very attractive looking asian woman who you figure must be the owner of the store.

“Good evening young man, how can I help you,” the old lady says with a hard accent.

“Oh, I’m just taking a look, I never noticed this place before,” You reply back.

“Well, that is because I just officially opened today, go head take a look around,” The old lady says.

“Thank you, I will.”

You start to walk around the store which feels more like a cluttered house than an actual store. You walk down a hallway and enter a room that could really only function as a bedroom, but in this store it is packed full of asian looking objects, some definitely of great age. Other objects in the room appear to be items from all over asia, and have no exact cultural identity to them. Some old looking scrolls in one corner, stacked with what appears to be some magazines, on closer inspection you find out that they are porn magazines, most likely from Japan. You shuffle through the first couple magazines, and grab one with a schoolgirl walking a dog on the cover of it. You take a quick peek inside the magazine and close it just as fast . “Wow” you think, "PETA must not exist in Japan." You put the magazine back, but shyly, you gab the magazine again, and hesitantly you decide to try and buy it, but for now, you continue on looking around. In one corner you see a strange looking vase, drawings of weird creatures were scetched all over it. You walk over and pick it up, getting a better view, the art immediately catches your interest and you quickly decide to purchase the peice. You take the vase to a table where the old lady is sitting.

“How much for this vase?” you ask.

“That piece of junk, my grandfather found that at a thrift store in China many years back, he said it was originally from Thailand or something, he bought it for nothing because the thrift store owner couldn’t sell it. If you really want the ugly thing… how much money do you have in your pocket right now?” The old lady asked.

“I have three dollars that was supposed to be for lunch,” You say.

“That will do, now take the ugly thing and get out of here,” The old lady says.

"Ma'am, I would also like to buy this," you say as you shyly put the Magazine on the table.

The lady picks up the magazine and opens it, then closes it and says," I can't sell you this young man, it is very inappropriate for you to have, come back in a few years."

"What?! Jesus Christ, fine," you say, a little upset.
