Chapter 5 by FlatCap90210 FlatCap90210

What will they find there?

A seemingly normal family... but that's not all.

The girls straightened up a bit before ringing the bell and were rather relieved when the woman that opened the door looked to be less... enhanced by the Dark One's touch, if at all. While she was beautiful, there were none of the exaggerated curves the likes of Linda's on her.

"Yes? Can I help you?"

"Hello, Mrs... Kensington." Penny had to check the label under the bell for the name of the family that lived here. "Would you have some time to talk about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?"

"Hmm..." The woman turned around and called out to someone deeper in the house. "Eric? There's two young women here that would like to talk to us. Did we have anything planned for today?"

"No, dear, I think not," came the reply from what seemed to be her husband. "Invite them in if you want."

"Well then, feel free to come in." Stepping aside, Mrs Kensington gestured for Penny and Ellie to enter. "Would you like something to drink? A glass of water perhaps?"

"Thank you, that would be nice." Penny did feel rather parched from running from Linda. "And thank you for inviting us in."

After a few more pleasantries, they sat down at the table in the living room, Ellie taking out their pamphlets and a bible to read from. Eric and his wife, Miranda as she introduced herself, were snuggled up on the other side of the table, but Penny didn't mind; after all, the two were joined in holy matrimony. Beginning her reading, this time in less end-timey parts of the bible, namely Romans and Corinthians, Penny found herself fixed in the attentive stares of Eric and Miranda following her every word.

"...who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justif--ghrg!" In the middle of a verse, Penny suddenly felt a cramp seize her up. It was gone as fast as it had come, leaving only a faint, fading throbbing in her body.

"Oh dear, are you alright, Penny?" Miranda extricated herself from her husband's arm and leaned over the table to grab Penny's forearm gently as Ellie rubbed her friends shoulder. "Should I get you something?"

"N-no, I'm alright, thanks." Penny swallowed and took a sip of water. The throbbing had disappeared; had she been imagining things? "Shall we continue?"

Picking up where she left off, Penny began reading again, supported by Ellie from her right who took over whenever her friend needed a break. Right in the middle of Corinthians 1, though, she began to squirm in her seat, stumbled over a line and finally stopped. Penny took over with practiced ease, but she couldn't help but wondering what was going on with her friend. Taking a deep breath as she was about to launch into the next verse, Penny felt her bra dig into her breasts and back slightly. It didn't feel quite right for it to be tight like that, but she didn't think much of it.

"Now that we are done reading, I would like to ask you to share your thoughts," Penny smiled, leaning back and closing the bible. Somehow, she only now realized how comfortable and soft the chair cushion was. "After all, with the lockdown and... everything else going on, these are scary times, and Jesus can be our rock and shepherd."

"Oh, absolutely!" Miranda sat up a little straighter, forcing Eric to do the same. "The things we see out there, they make us almost..."

"Honestly, I'm scared for my sister to go outside." Eric squeezed his wife tighter as he said this, as if to protect her as well as his sister. "There are... things out there, and they're hunting."

"I... I feared as much." A shiver ran down Penny's back. So the Dark One's servants where that bold already? "But fear not, our faith will deliver us. And you, should you be willing to join the congregation."

"We're seriously considering it, aren't we, honey?" Miranda turned her head to look at Eric and gave him a quick kiss. "Please, leave one of your pamphlets. There is contact info in there, right?"

"Yes, indeed there is!" Penny beamed. After the disaster with Linda, it felt amazing to see the couple so willing to walk towards salvation. Not all was lost! "Thank you so much for thinking about it. You will not regret saving your immortal soul, I promise you that!"

"Marvelous! Now, would the two of you like to stay for a light brunch? My brother and I made our own breadrolls yesterday."

"Thank you, but we need to get going." Standing up, Penny put her hand on Ellie's shoulder. While she wasn't squirming any more, the mousy girl looked up at her friend with a peculiar expression. "There are many more souls in this city that need our help. I'm sure you'll understand?"

"Absolutely, and thank you for your visit."

Back out on the sidewalk, Penny turned towards Ellie and grabbed her friend's shoulders, barely able to keep from jumping up and down."See, Ellie?" Penny's grin was so wide it almost hurt. "I told you that we could do it, that we would be able to save some souls here!"

"Y-yes..." Squirming in her friend's grip, Ellie gave the other woman pause.

"Aren't you glad we're doing His work? Is something wrong?"

"N-not really, it's just..."

"Just what? Is it something I can help you with?"

"N-not really, it's kind of... personal..." Judging by how red Ellie was turning, it indeed was. But Penny didn't quite understand.

"What do you mean? If it's about... Aunt Flo, haven't I helped you with that before?"

"N-no, it's..." Taking a deep breath, Ellie looked at her friend with a face as red as a tomato. "The top of m-my butt itches terribly, right between the cheeks, o-okay? And-and I can't scratch it because we're in public, a-and..."

"Oh." Though scandalized, Penny couldn't stand to see her friend in such distress. "Th-then let's go to the next house and you can ask to use their restroom, alright?"

Ellie nodded meekly, and the pair set off to save the next souls. As they walked, Penny tugged at the cups of her plain bra absentmindedly. It had to have shrunk in the wash; she couldn't remember it being quite so tight.

What will the next house bring?
