A lucky penny

As she made her way along the street, heading for town, Sandry noticed something shiny on the ground- a penny.

"See a penny, pick it up," she remembered the old rhyme as she bent for the coin, "and all the day you'll have good..."

RIP!

"Nuts!" Although the point of this expedition was to save her embarrassment at school, Sandry had just split her jeans. Worse, as she stood up the penny slipped from her fingers and dropped to the pavement, bounced and fell down a drain.

Sandry groaned, trying to figure out how badly her trousers were ripped and how much of her bright pink underwear, adorned with dancing cartoon penguins, was on display.
