A little date

You got to the cafeteria and it was super crowded. Luckily you brought a sandwich from home. As you were walking, Jared came up to you.

"Hey," he said.

"Hey," you said back.

You followed him to an empty spot at the end of table.

"This is a date," you found yourself saying. "Just in case you weren't sure."

He looked elated. Most boys had never been asked out by a girl, you knew from experience.

A few minutes later, you realized that the rest of the room was sort of a blur. Jared seemed to stand out in the middle of it all, his voice the only one you could really hear. You sat on the edge of your seat, blinking dreamily as he told a story about football. As hard as you tried to escape, you found yourself laughing at all his jokes and smiling constantly. A warm feeling started to build inside of you, and you wondered for a moment why you were resisting.

At the end of lunch, you saw Becky out of the corner of your eye, and without realizing it, you had leaned in and given Jared a kiss. Not just any kiss, but a surprisingly long one for the first date. He stared a you, wide eyed, before kissing you back. Just as you were about to leave, your hand picked out a pen from seemingly nowhere, wrote your number on a sticky note, and handed it to him.

"Call me," you said.

With that, you walked over and rejoined your group of friends, wondering what the rest of the day could hold in store for you.
