A goofy Kobold happens upon Becky

Becky shuffled out of her hiding place, looking around for something to get her bearings. The trees were just as dark and monotonous as ever, and endless wall of unyielding shadow. She could simply pick a random direction and start walking, but there was no telling what horrible things might lie in wait here and if she happened upon something particularly dangerous unprepared, she was certain she would be done for. Becky frowned, screwing up her face as she pondered her predicament.

Just then, a faint rustling came from nearby. The foliage began to shake violently, as though some terrible beast was about to leap out and pounce upon the poor girl, and Becky scrambled to her feet. She didn't have much to defend herself, so in a wild panic she groped around and clasped her hand around a sharp-looking rock, raising it in a last resort. She was ready for the worst when she saw... a kobold?

The creature stumbled out of the wilderness, looking about in confusion before spotting Becky. He was a diminutive little guy with scales of burnished bronze, tiny horns, and a short tail that poked out from the back of his loincloth. All in all, he was rather cute in a scrawny sort of way. Becky stayed tense, but was a disarmed enough by his cute appearance and the dopey smile that crossed his face when he saw her.

"Heyo!" The kobold said, waving and offering her a friendly grin. "What pretty human lady doing here? Is lost? Me Yazz! Who you?" He tilted his head, clearly quite curious about the woman and her circumstance.

Becky remained a little tense, but was disarmed enough by his appearance, and even further by his goofy way of speaking.

"I'm, well... my name is Becky" she said, fairly plainly. She lowered the rock, relaxing into a more casual position as his goofy look was backed up by equally goofy speech. "And I suppose I am rather lost. You wouldn't happen to know where exactly we are, would you... Yazz?"

"Becky," Yazz said, trying the name out and then nodding with approval. "Is pretty name. Pretty name for pretty lady."

He gave a quick look about the area, as though something had just occurred to him. Yazz spoke softer now, "We close to big lizard places. They meanies, make trouble with Yazz and tribe." The kobold gently shook a little satchel he was carrying. "Finding plants, food and healing herbs. Best herbs grow near. Others too scared to go but Yazz bravest!"

He puffed his small chest out as though he was trying to look impressive for Becky. "If you lost, Yazz bring you back home? Big boss is smart, knows lots, maybe know how get you unlost? If no, well, better be lost with friends, yes?" He looked up at her with hopeful eyes.
