Chapter 7

What's next?
A few weeks later
Be the man of the house brought several new responsibilities, despite having received no power. And one of them was the great task of cleaning attic. Cleaning things in general was already something I hated naturally, but the attic was untouched for years, so imagine how much dust I'm going to have to face.
Today also began the month in which I'm going to have to wash Ashley's clothes, and reconciling all these responsibilities with my job at Walmart is a challenge.
Properly equipped with cleaning equipment, mask, gloves and a flashlight, I climbed the stairs and began exploring the attic.
As I expected, the attic was quite dusty, full of boxes and other trinkets. It was quite spacious, there were two windows that were covered with a dark screen, I remove it from the two windows to enter the sunlight.
After an hour of war against dirt I finally succeeded. The attic was so clean it could lie on the floor without any problem. With the main task completed the boxes caught my attention.
The boxes contained several contents: old toys, fishing equipment, camping equipment, various shells and others. Most of these things were my father's, probably with the growing family he had to better manage the space around the house.
However, one box in particular caught my attention: dozens of family photo albums. Flipping through my parents' wedding album I realized how Mom didn't seem to grow old, besides how good dad looked, I definitely got his smile. I didn't find Robert in any wedding photos, maybe I should ask about it later.
I also found a High School's Yearbook, this will be interesting haha. I soon found the names of Ann Carter, George Mason and Robert Greenwood. WHAT THE HELL?! Ann Carter and Robert Greenwood were the prom king and queen and apparently they dated. George Mason appeared as the class speaker, as well and a member of the journalism club, it seems he was popular too, despite always being a simple guy.
Mom never mentioned that she dated Robert in high school... I figured they'd known each other a long time, but I never considered this kind of relationship. I was so shocked by this that I decided to stop seeing the pictures and get out of the attic.
After storing all the cleaning equipment and taking a bath, I met Ashley in the living room. She was watching TV, some silly show from "Miscovered."
"Hey sis, did you see Mom around?"
"I think she's in her room" Ash said, without taking her eyes off the TV. I thanked her and went to Mom's room.
Her door was closed, and as I gathered the courage to talk to her about my new discovery...
.... Zzzz....... zzzzzzz........ zzzzzzz..... Mmh
I could hear some kind of vibration coming from her room. She's probably using those "Bolyshop" massage machine.
"Hey, Mom. Can I come in?" I said it when i was banging on the door.
"Mm... uhh? Oh.. Liam? What do you want?"
"I want to ask you something"
"Another time, dear ohh... Please. I'm busy right now."
I decided to leave Mother alone, while turning around it seemed that the vibrations became more frantic.
Author note: Hey guys, I did a brief research about high school yearbooks, but pretty much all I know about it is what I've seen in movies or read in stories. So I apologize for any mistake in this regard.
