A diner

Alicia immediately walked across the street and into a nearby diner.

If nothing else, she thought, I could always get a job washing dishes. It wouldn't pay much but at least it's a job I can be proud of. More likely, though, they'll hire me to be a waitress or else a cash --

"What's the matter, honey?" said the naked redhead behind the diner's cash register. "Never seen a cashier before?"

"No, it's just..." said Alicia. "Er, am I going to dress like that if I get a job here?"

The redhead shrugged. "Not likely. More likely they'll start you off as a waitress. Like Fran over there."

The redhead pointed to a person behind Alicia whom Alicia had not noticed earlier. The woman -- Fran, obviously -- was a dark blonde who wore little more than comfortable shoes, white bobby socks, an apron and a little waitress cap that looked like a souvenir from the 1950s.

Fran took one look at Alicia's bemused expression and smiled.

"Yes, the cap is a bit much, don't ya think?" asked Fran.
