A book

When Ashley turns around, she is holding a book. "Will you read my a story, Daddy?" Ashley looks cute in her outfit and holding a children's book. As you consider your options of reading or leaving right now, Ashley's eyes start to water. You reluctantly agree. "Okay, Ashley."

Ashley smiles and crawls back to you, pushing the book along the floor. As it lands at your feet, you pick the book up and lean back in your chair. Ashley gets up and sits on your lap, placing her back on your chest with her head gently next to yours. "Read it Daddy."

"Once upon a time..." You read from the open book. You use character voices as you read a long story about princesses and dragons and princes. It is your standard fairy tale stuff.

"The end," you say, wrapping up the book.

Ashley is not satisified. "Read it again!"

"Ashley, this was a long story. How about we read something else?"

"No, I want this one!" Ashley crosses her arms in frustration.

"Ashley, that's enough, I think I'm done being Daddy." You try and push her off of you. As you head to the door, Ashley pleads with you.

"What? Please don't go. We can read another book. I have a special book you can read." Ashley closes her eyes and starts to cry. You feel bad for the poor girl, but it may be time to leave.
