Chapter 71

Sure... I think?
A backyard blacksmith
Viola tensed up a bit, hoping nobody was observing her as she made her way around the house. She totally looked out of place, despite trying her hardest to act like she fit in. Sneaking in wasn't a problem in the dark, but it is mid day and the sunlight made her feel like all eyes were on her.
The clink noise only grew louder the closer she got, her hand bumping against the chain link fence. It was a tight spot to maneuver, only room for one person. She found herself able to squeeze through, and she was skinny so it would be really difficult for anyone with a small gut to pass. I mean, if the buildings were so close that their windows may as well be a door instead, it really left no one surprised there.
Getting the embarrassing part out of the way, she leaned against the house wall when approaching the corner. That noise was at its loudest here, definitely the point of origin lies in his backyard. Peaking her head over, she admitted whatever it was she would be shocked nonetheless, and she was right. There he was, Robin wearing safety goggles positioned over a... umm... was he smashing a rock?
"Uhh..." She probably should have stayed silent. He looked up and swung the small hammer, running too close on catching his hand. "Oh my gosh! Are you hurt?"
"What-no no, I'm... um, hi?" He responded, puzzled and surprised at the sudden visitor in his backyard. His eyes scanned her over, this was new. If not wearing pants before wasn't enough, now she approached him with tight slick yoga pants which really left nothing to the imagination as to what her legs looked like. Really showing off those curves... oh crap, was I staring?
"S-sorry eh, w-whatchaaa whatcha doing out here?" Fumbling to remove his gloves and goggles, he got up from his work bench as Viola had ran over, taking his hand in hers and scanning it. He blushed lightly, was she really checking for injuries?
"I-I'm fine, honest."
Viola paid no attention, her motherly instincts kicking in before she felt reassured. "Phew, I was really worried. Your hands are a bit sweaty, but they're good."
"I could have told you that... thought I did." He smiled, as soon as they locked eyes she looked down and blushed. There it is, that smile. "So... day off?"
"Um-kinda! Uh, early shift, no uhhh I meant to say, that is to say I say..m blah! Work left me out early after powah!" She shouted, dying of embarrassment by now. Why the fuck can't I talk!? Either way, he was having fun laughing at her misery and feeble attempt at communication. Ugh, kill me.
"Soooo early leave?"
"... yea, you can say that. I knocked but no one was home... I hope I'm not..." She began to say, pointing at herself and back to the path she came from.
"Hm? No, you're fine I'm not mad. Just uh... surprised, that's all."
They both smiled and stood around, neither knew what to say next.
"... so whatcha doin'?"
"Oh, flaking! Flaking small pieces of stone from a rock. A chunk of rock, it's to make all sorts of neat stuff when I have time. It's a hobby." He waved his hand about, showing her his little work bench and nearby barrel and forge, not to mention the anvil he was swinging his hammer on.
"Ooooh, so you're some sort of blacksmith then?" She asked, big handsome blacksmith hehe.
"You can say that, I've done that kind of work before." He beamed, puffing his chest out. He looked so cute with his apron on. "Sorry, you uh, wanna go inside then? Ahem, may I invite you to my home?" He asked, his words accompanied with a sense of courtesy.
"You mayyyyy." She giggled as she followed him to his backdoor. That is, the door of his backyard into his house! Not the backdoor in a perverse manner, the backdoor of the house. I wasn't staring at his butt! Shut up!
I plead the fifth!
