Chapter 5
by BriefcaseRonin
What emerges from the bush? Meera and Hilde? Bandits? Monsters?
A Worg?!
From the bushes burst forth a massive beast, all fur and claws and teeth. Venus rolled from her bedroll just in time as the creature landed atop it. In the dim moonlight that shined on its oily black fur and blood red eyes, Venus knew the creature to be a worg. A large and intelligent wolf-like species, they were dangerous creatures, and they did not hunt alone. They were known to sometimes be mounts for goblin tribes, less a domestication and more a partnership. Some scholars even believed that the worgs were smarter than the goblins.
From the corner of her eye, the Shadow Hunter could see another pair of glowing red eyes not far away, and then another. At least three of them, and only one of her. The odds weren't in her favor, at all. The huntress briefly wondered where her companions were, but pushed the thought aside. She couldn't afford distractions. Not now, at any rate.
The worg standing on her bedroll growled, spittle running from its sharp teeth as it lowered, preparing to pounce. It leapt, flying over the dying fire towards Venus and she dived, rolling out of the way. The damn monsters had seperated her from her sword which lay next to her slightly tattered covers. In the moment, she had not had time to grab it. But she would be no match for the worgs without it. Almost as if sensing her thoughts, one of the furry beasts, this one a steel grey, strode forward, standing over the sword and giving her an evil wolven grin.
“Bastard,” Venus hissed, and then heard the sudden upkick of dirt and leaves, dodging the third worg as the red furred monster attempted to tackle her from behind. Spinning away, she now found herself surrounded on all sides, the worgs watching her and waiting to see what she would do. Lacking any good options, Venus charged the grey worg, grabbing up a handful of dirt and chucking it at the creature in an effort to blind it so that she could grab her sword and, maybe, a fighting chance.
The cloud of dirt struck the worg and it flinched, but rather than backing away it simply rushed full bore toward Venus. She tried to turn away, but instead Grey's head slammed into her stomach and knocked the air out of her. The huntress fell back, her sword even further out of reach, doubling over as she gasped for air. Shadows loomed over her and the worgs stood very close, Black and Red both watching her with angry, hungry, eyes while Grey rubbed its paws over its face to wipe the dirt from its eyes. It was not happy either.
Before she could react, Red moved forward and slashed at her with its claws. Venus cried out in pain as they raked painfully over her, but she realized it was not with the worg's full ****. The sharp claws tore at her tunic and the huntress gasped. It was tearing at her clothes! Grey and Black soon followed, using their claws and their teeth, scraping and cutting her several times in the process of tearing away every last scrap of clothing.
Shiverring, naked, and defenseless, Venus looked around at the worgs, “W-what are you going to do?”
What do the worgs do to Venus? Where are Meera and Hilde?
