A Penthouse view

You step into the elevator as soon as the doors open. There's only you, since you are late, so no worries about the elevator stopping at other floors. You press P for penthouse, because that's where your office is located, right next to Cherilynn's suite. You feel the elevator as it glides up its shaft. It's almost like you're flying in some respect. At least you've got a beautiful tan to show Cherilynn. She'll probably be just a wee bit envious of you.

The elevator doors open. You have arrived at the reception area of the penthouse suites. This is where all executives and their secretaries spend their work hours. The main receptionist at the reception desk greets you warmly. "Welcome back" she smiles. "Don't worry too much, Katherine. Cherilynn didn't expect you on time. In fact, she didn't really expect you in today at all. But I don't doubt she will be glad to see you. She's been running around here like a chicken with its head cut off. Sorry to say, there's probably a ton of paperwork for you to deal with on your desk."

"Believe me, I expected as much, Maddy" you say to the beautiful blond behind the desk. "Believe me, it was a temptation to stay at home for another day. James wanted both of us to call off, and spend the day in bed."

Maddy giggles. "No need to say anything else. I can imagine vividly what you two would have been doing!"

"So can I!" says a familiar voice from somewhere behind you. You feel the touch of her hand on your shoulder, and turn around to face her. She smiles at you as she embraces you. "Welcome back, Katherine. Maddy's right, I have made a mess of things. I'm afraid there's a stack of contracts from our customers and suppliers for you to go over and proof for me. I don't understand all that voodoo that you do, but you are the master, and I am but your humble servant." Cherilynn bows before you with a gesture of admonishment. "So please, put on your Wonder Woman costume, or whatever it is you change into, and work your magic. Everyone here knows you are the Scotty of executive secretaries."

"In that case I need to pick up my Starfleet uniform from the cleaners" you giggle.

"Now that I would even pay to see you in. One of those old series mini dresses." Cherilynn licks her lips and raises an eyebrow.

"You and all the guys in here" Maddy chimes in.

"Any way, Katherine. Make sure you're free for lunch. We have some prospective clients I'd like you to meet" says Cherilynn. "I want you to size them up for me, because I trust your judgment. They're from Japan, so we'll be meeting them at Kiku's Hibachi Steakhouse. We'll have the company limo drop us there."

"The company limo? These clients must be a big deal."

"Indeed they are" says Cherilynn. "Do whatever it takes to impress them. Okay?"

You smile, and give Cherilynn a salute. "You can count on me, sir. Whatever it takes."

Cherilynn and Maddy giggle at you. You even giggle with them.

With that you turn to go to your office. It's not as bad as what you were led to believe. Sure there are a number of contracts on your desk that need to be proofed, and a lot of appointments that have been postponed that you need to reschedule. But you actually breeze through them all well before lunch. "Looks like my reputation as a miracle worker is still intact" you smile to yourself.

You take the pile of proofed contracts and carry them over to Cherilynn's suite for her to sign. "Well, that was quick" she says to you. "Just in time for lunch!" She signs them all, and deposits them into her out box. "Shall we get a jump on our meeting, and head over to Kiku's?"
