A Nuru interlude

The three of you disentangle from each other and lie there in each others arms panting and basking in the afterglow. You stroke Nita's feathery soft pink hair as you lie there. You honestly couldn't remember when you'd had that much fun. You wave at the crowd, letting them know you were down for the count. As a group they seem overjoyed with what they had just witnessed, you see alien versions of high fives and fist bumps. The first step in gaining popularity seemed to be a success.

You then hear a sniffle. You turn, expecting something to be wrong with Nita but instead you are shocked to see it is Nuru with tears in her eyes. This was so unlike the usually unflappable irrepressible Nuru.

"Nuru...what's wrong?" You ask softly.

"I'm sorry." She waves her hand in front of her face as she tries to blink away the tears. "I haven't...I haven't had a human man...since my husband back on Earth." As she talks the emotions start spilling out despite her trying to contain them. Her tears begin to flow freely. "...it just brings back memories...very old memories...I haven't had in a long long time." She was breaking down before your eyes. "I loved him Happy. Oh god I loved him! How could I forget that?" Tears run down her face and down onto her chest in rivers. "How could I forget him?" She is sobbing, her body wracked in sadness and agony. Her usually brave facade has completely disintegrated.

Again she waves her hand again as she hopelessly tries to bottle up her long held back feelings. "I'm sorry Happy. It's not you, it's not you...I'm sorry."

Nita sits up on her knees, concerned for her friend. "Nuru?" She reaches out for her but doesn't know what to do with the overwhelming display of emotion.

You sidle over to Nuru. Sitting up so you are facing toward her you reach down and bring her to you. You embrace her tight, one hand around her waist the other holding her neck and head. You bring her face to your shoulder and kiss the side of her head. "I'm so sorry Nuru. I'm so sorry. It's not right what happened to you." Her tears run down your chest. "It's not right."

Nita comes around and hugs Nuru from the other side. The three of you sit in the embrace a long time and Nuru shudders and sobs. You stroke her gently as you hold her and comfort her. She sobs violently, this experience had shaken her to her very core.

Those fucking zookeepers! Now more than ever you were determined to get you and your friends out of this cursed place! Micheal may have died trying to escape, but some things were worth dying for!

Nuru begins to gather her composure. Taking a deep breath she pushes back from you. Blinking away the tears she gathers herself once more, the old Nuru starts to shine through.

"Ho man! I don't know where that came from. Whew! Sorry about that." She says, embarrassed.

You smile. "It's okay Nuru."

Nita strokes Nuru's hair. "It's okay Nuru." She mimics you.

Nuru smiles back and looks at Nita. "What a sweetheart." Taking another deep breath. "Okay, I think that's out of my system for a while. Hooo!" She kisses your cheek. "Thank you Happy, thanks for being here."

Wiping her tears away she gets out of bed and heads over to the counter. She cuts you each a little hand sized piece of food and brings a glass of water for the three of you to share. Sitting up in bead you take a drink then take the food in hand.

"I'm not really hungry." You shrug, since it's in your hand you may as well eat it. You gobble it down as do the other two.

Nuru sits there smiling at you. It was almost a bit unnerving, she seemed to be waiting for something. Then you feel it, the cube's rejuvenating effect. You raise your eyebrows and look at Nuru. You felt fit, fresh, and ready to go once more!

"There it is." She laughs. "Is the Hapster ready?"

You growl in response. "Rrrrrah! I'm comin for you Nuru!"

"Bring it on!" She howls happily.

Nita mimics you once more. "Rrrrrah!" Baring her teeth she holds her hands in a claws gesture. "Rrrrahr!" She is ready to go!
