A Guardian Angel Has A Panic Attack

Layliel paced across the room, her little angelic heart beating rapidly.

Every few seconds she would spare a glance at the monstrous tome on the floor and every time she would jump, whimper, and scurry away to the far wall. The aura around this item was the vilest, most sinister thing Layliel had ever encountered.

“This is way above my pay grade!” She cried in a soft voice that tinkled like a fresh spring.

The job was already becoming a real burden before any demons or their artifacts got involved. Layliel knew Jeffrey Nesbit would die early on in the job, but she didn’t expect it to warp Mary Nesbit’s pure world view so greatly.

Then there was Mary’s troubled child. While technically not under Layliel’s watch, Riley Nesbit had become the angel’s pet project. Whoever was assigned that girl was doing a very bad job.

All of this stress bared down on Layliel constantly, but it was all grains of sand compared to the awful thing on the ground.

Layliel thanked her lucky stars (and the lord of course) that she was not physically manifested at the moment. The darkness within that book even posed a danger to angels like her.

“I need to report this upstairs,” Layliel decided.

She flapped her wings and shot into the sky, passing through the ceiling effortlessly.

Whatever this book was, Heaven needed to know about it. They needed to mobilize a response. This was beyond what a lowly guardian angel could handle.

How does heaven respond?
