You are too slow getting up off the ground, and by the time you are ready to leap in the direction of away, the monster has finished with its first victim. You are again knocked off your feet. The last thing you see before the demon’s wings fill the sky above you is the writhing form of your erstwhile companion, her clothes ripped away, limbs growing and skin slowly turning blood red. The next instant you feel the Incubus’s teeth sink into your chest, and all fades away.
