★ "How are things at..." | (Head out)

The elevator let out the heads up bing as it stopped at the ground floor. Jane's heels clicked out as she walked out ahead of you. Back to being buried in her tablet and tracking the schedule she turned to you after a few steps. "Sir?"

You pondered over your choices for a bit, but decided you'd go for what you had planned out for the day already. "Jane, how are things over at the B site?" You could see Jane que up a car already for you. She cut you off before you could continue. A slight smirk on her face.

"Should I have Miranda come with us?" Jane's smirk had turned into a full blown shit eating grin.

"Wha... no. Well, not no, but why would...." You tried to fumble back through a few words before she could continue further.

"She will meet us at the car." Jane looked satisfied in your dumbfounded view as you heard her heels begin to click away from you. Miranda had been your long time friend, and sort of a highschool sweetheart of yours. Jane after hearing about this story in full took a uncharacteristic interest in the relationship between you two and made it a point to be completely uncool about it. But there was no denying in your head you were still very interested in Miranda, sure you spent your entire day so far having sex with people who weren't her, but typical social norms didn't really apply anymore.

The door was opened for you by the doorwoman as you stepped out behind Jane into the sunshine, great weather today.

"Hi!" You were greeted by a familiar voice as the valet opened the door to the black SUV. It was Miranda. Jane sat upfront with the driver as you climbed in the back with her. She leaned into you for a semi-awkward but still made you tingle on the inside hug. "Thanks for having me tag along." Her voice had a sly tone in it as she knew Jane had made the arrangements.

"You're welcome." Jane chirped from the front seat. The girls laughed for a moment. Miranda set her hand on your knee and spoke.

"So I can't wait for you to see what we've started on at the project site today." Miranda on your recommendation was tasked with building a new research compound, she always had a knack for design and you figured it would score you some good credit with her recommending her for the job. But she panned out to be a great fit so it all worked out. "Although, the newest expansion is a bit more out of the way."

"Explains the SUV instead of a limo I guess?" You had noticed the car was a little more rugged than usual, but you didn't mind, it had been awhile before you did anything remotely adventurous outside the compound.

"Yep!" Miranda chirped back. "We're adding in a whole new controlled bio dome, so we can finally get some natural research going." While it had only been human men that disappeared from earth one day, the full extent of what happened wasn't really understood quite yet. So the new compound was set to research all aspects of biology to try and crack the code.
