Janet greets you with a large smile.

“That was something!”

“Yeah, that was something,” you answer.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen something that big. My poor husband can crawl back into the hole he came out of.”

You pause looking at your old friend.

“Seriously?”

“Well… I’m… I’m playing around with the idea.”

You laugh.

“Fuck it Janet, carpe diem! I won’t tell anyone.”

You pause again realizing what you just said. You look at your glass.

“Wow,” you say, “this stuff is strong.”

You go back to your friend. Biting her lip, her mind is clearly somewhere else. Mary taps on your shoulder. Her hand is incredibly cold.

“What are you two girls talking about?”

“Janet was …” you say.

But you stop; it’s not your place to say it out loud. Janet looks at Mary, she bends to her ear.

“Mary,” she starts, “do you think it would be possible … I mean, for me, to go…”

“You want to have a taste of Jim?”

“Well that is a way of putting it.”

“Of course you can! Since our little friend here isn’t interested,” she says looking at you, “I don’t see why we shouldn’t take advantage of the merchandize. It’s already paid for. Just take the little door over there and follow the corridor until you reach another open door. He’s not waiting for you exactly but I’m sure he won’t mind having you.”

Janet looks at you and Mary.

“You won’t tell anyone, right?”

“Promise,” you answer.

"Promise," Mary repeats.

Janet leaves the little discussion. On the couch Bree is talking with Susan and Ally is dancing all by herself on the dance floor.

“So how was it?”

“What?”

“The dance, you moron.”

“Oh, the dance,” you answer still remembering the excitement that came over you. “To be completely honest, I must say that the dancer was pretty hot.”

“That’s the impression you gave me back there.”

“Was I that obvious?”

“Well… yes but on the other hand you are among friends tonight so nobody will speak. Promise.”

There’s something odd about her voice. It feels warmer than you remember and her eyes, you never noticed how deep they are. With a hand Mary pushes away your hair exposing your neck. Her fingers play with your ear lobe. A delicious warmth spreads in your belly. What is happening to you? You never, ever considered making out with a girl and you’re feeling strangely attracted to Mary.
